What information do you think an investigation could uncover that would justify the shooting?

I can immediately think of three likely scenarios but I genuinely don’t see what me outlining them would bring to the table at this point? What good would introducing a number of theoretical scenarios do?

I would rather not add to the unhelpful speculation and wait until the statements have been taken, the various accounts recorded, footage examined and the investigation completed.

I am also mindful of providing the scenarios and then facing the armchair experts who throw in reams of whataboutery. I really don’t see how it’s constructive but will reluctantly provide them if you so wish.

For context I spent thirteen years as an AFO with the Met.

If they didn't know the gun had been confiscated then that is amateur, terrible policing from the ICE men.

A "Disarmed!" call would have sufficed. I would imagine that such team communication would be standard in a properly trained force? Essential and standard, I would imagine.
