Crystal Palace vs. Rayo Vallecano match thread

I like Ward like we all probably do. But he made the intervju about god is making this. Almost sounded like a cultist.
I can see where you're coming from, but honestly, I think it's okay. He not cultish: he's a religious person. It's quite common around the world, not really that niche. But more to the point, look at the Palace players, current or recent, who are of the same persuasion: Marc G, Ebs, Maxine, Daniel M. All of them, with Joel, so modest, so lacking in ego, so respectable and decent. They're not the same as those **** who parade a bogus, sinister religious conviction in order to manipulate or divide people - say, Yaxley-Lennon, Trump, Hegseth, Russell Brand. No, whatever Joel, Maxine, Ebs, Marc and the others have seemed to give them that little bit of lightning in a bottle that helped them beat City, beat Liverpool, and give us such great memories. Give Joel a break.

Bored winning all these trophies, such poor show on our part can we get back to only fighting relegation , or get relegated then finish 6th just and win promotion , aah the good old days 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆❤️❤️🏆🏆🏆🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅

I thought Mateta's kicking of the corner flag was even better than the goal itself.
That'll be another huge fine and probably a ban from Europe next season. 😁😁😁😁
I loved the way the subs joined in and air kicked at the same time. Also Wharton looking so delighted with the goal. Like a kid. Tells you the whole squad are together

Well my stomach has now calmed down. Last night was worse than the FA cup.

When Eze scored I wasn't bothered it was inevitable that City would go on to win with a dodgy ref decision so it was only in the last few minutes I thought blimey we can actually win this.

Last night I knew we had a real chance so my nerves were all over the place. When Pino hit the post and then the keeper saved from JPM I thought here we go.

Well done the lads and well done all those who went, made the club proud.

Anyway back to normal now, I can start worrying about getting relegated next season.

I have already commenced that journey.
Only jesting 🤣 🤣

A fantastic night to be a Palace fan, great performances by Wharton and Kamada, one that will be long remembered, hopefully the start of a long run of European adventures and even maybe, cant believe i am saying, the Champions league, important to back the new manager strait away, adding better depth to our squad, COYP.

There are some great angles on this, Canvot, Clyne and someone else were in perfect unison with Mateta and his air kick. At some point, I will rewatch all the angles of the celebration again and again

I'm not sure where to post this, but during our drive home through the night to Düsseldorf one of my sons pointed out that (post ZDS win) our wins in finals have been West Ham (Cardiff) 1-0; Sheff Utd (Wembley 1-0, Watford (Wembley) 1-0, Man City 1-0 (Wembley) and now Rayo 1-0. Ok there was also the Community Shield but we were just rambling a bit 😉

Rayo Vallecano are 8th in La Liga, they finished last season in 8th place and they went into last night's game on the back of a 9 match unbeaten run.
I expected more from them than they produced.'Toothless' in the final third, overall disappointing and deserved to lose.

Lacroix is worth a mention too for last night.
For much of his time at the club he's had the experienced Richards and Guehi either side of him.
Yesterday he had the inexperienced Canvot and Riad beside him.
They can't have played more than a handful of games together as a back 3.
Lacroix played a very disciplined role covering, organising and encouraging them.
It's also a sign of Glasner's confidence in Riad to use him instead of the experienced Lerma who has served us well in big games in the past in the back 3 when needed.

A fine moment in history for the mighty Eagles to be sure. Now, Mr Parish, you have a platform, over to you, don't balls it up.
A strange season, poor in the league with the manager saying he's off early doors, same manager having a strop live on tv, selling two England internationals, the main striker actually having a medical for a big Italian club, big money additions etc. And yet the joy was there to behold, this is a unified group!

Some of their tackling wasn't toothless; especially that sawn off Mini Me looking merchant (Ciss?).
