Crystal Palace vs. Nottingham Forest match thread

Sounds like Sky had Khalaili as the second goalscorer whilst Palace were VERY speedy to tweet that Lerma had scored, possibly because the ball had gone in off Khalaili's elbow and was a bit contentious? If Palace had acknowledged that Khalaili had scored they'd have been acknowledging a handball. Well done Palace social media team for the quick Derren Brown act.

As they say, it's a results business. So far, Sage is getting them, albeit in a somewhat haphazard way. Up the Palace.
Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good!
We rode our luck, somehow turned it around, then put the after burners on. Long may this “entertaining football” continue. (As long as we win) 😉

To everyone asking how we won that and suggesting that we didn’t deserve it - we won by scoring 3 goals to their 1 and that, even in 2026 with VAR is still how games are decided. We know from bitter experience in the Conference League last year that a ‘solid defence’ and ‘plenty of possession’ is not enough - we have to score goals and that is exactly what Sage has the players doing in a way that Glasner could not (freely, in both halves several times in every game). Yes the defence is WIP. He has to sort that out and if he does not then just like Pardew he will eventually be gone. But right now his tactics are working and we can only hope that the players will develop into a solid team that can defend as well as attack competently under his coaching.

Just back to the Premier Inn in Croydon , What a game ! we could have lost it by 3 or 4 in the first half only for Walter Benitez , what a collossus he was in goal today Hendo will find it hard enough to get his place back . Definitely MOTM. Atmosphere was electric also . The Forest fans are a nasty bunch , didnt hear them at all once we drew level . biggest cheer of the day was when the Ref gave us a free kick , best chants of the day were , has the fat b****** paid you off and your getting sacked in the morning .

Indeed! Things really could be much worse. We're a team in transition, trying to implement a new style of play and work out our best lineup, with a few injuries/suspensions to boot. Could easily be losing every week but we've won a decent proportion of games so far and we're scoring freely.

Defence is a concern but we showed we could be organised and tight against Leeds.

What to make of that.

Against Fulham and today we could have conceded hatloads and yet we have won both games.

We still pushed the full backs forward at 3-1 today and Timber was still breaking forward into the final third.
No closing out of games.

I think we'll have to get used of this under Sage, even if we do get a settled defence.
That's how Sage plays with players committed to going forward.

Roy would have nightmares, latter day Pardew would have loved it.
I remain nervous as a fan who thinks the first priority should be to try for a clean sheet as a platform to get a result.
I think we did ok, 2nd half, Benitez was mostly kicking up the pitch, less tippy tappy, IMO Larsen, Pino both had decent games, Lerma and Kamada best two, very pleased for Sage, but he needs to stop the Tippy Tap at the back, they are not good enough on the ball, Delap looked awful, Gibbs-White dosent fit in the system, at all
