Crystal Palace vs. Nottingham Forest match thread

We may just have to endure Kamada in the starting 11 until we get a quality replacement in for Eze. I'd rather give Esse a string of games personally...but either way, hopefully a quality replacement in soon.

Hughesy MOTM yet again. He really is top draw, isn't he.
Kamada is head and shoulders above Esse. Kamada is an experienced player Glasner trusts, Esse is raw, likes crowd pleasing step overs and loses the ball to Glasner's disgust, not a team player, yet.

There are no plus points from the current situation.
First home game of the season and the bench is filled with kids, most of who have never played a senior game.
There is no other team in the league being run like us. It is indefensible when you have a billionaire major shareholder.
Yeah, I understand what you are saying and I don’t disagree with most of it, but no plus points?

We are unbeaten in ten competitive games having played the biggest sides and won two trophies. Those are plus points but they have clearly happened because of about 13 remaining players, not the depth of the squad.

This is the difference between a manager and a spectator. Personally I like to see skillful players showing what they can do and am not interested in well drilled functionalism. I don't care about high presses, low presses or trouser presses just show me some skill. Of course my job doesn't depend on results though.

I did say to a mate after we’d made three subs, all we had left on the bench was two keepers and two kids, shows how desperate we are for numbers that Edouard is back in the fold.
But I’m confident we’re going to bring in two or three players before the window shuts. 🙏🏽

Just watched the highlights again and worrying how OG said the players were basically knackered during the second half…second week of the season. He is going to have to start rotating the squad.
I hope we don’t get drawn against one of those far flung teams that just about qualify as Europe then, Because if we’re knackered after a home European Thursday game it’ll be a worry

Flaggers, clue's in the name, knows his stuff when it comes to Tifo, what can and cannot be posted to avoid being sued for libel, and generally just not being a knob.

Be interesting to see if the Big Man or MGW take it further.

Your whingefest is over, time Palarse, both Chairman and some of the fanbase, grew up and focused on the league.

Probably best to have a squad before you rotate it.
Watched the full 90 minutes on Palace tv plus.
I think it was the Sky commentary.
You wouldn't have thought that Palace were even playing.
Every comment was about Nottingham Forest and their players.
Saying that Forest still needed more players even though they have already spent millions on 5 or 6 players
Not one mention of Palace needing more players.
Unbelievably biased commentary.
I think it was Peter Drury and Efan Ekoku.
Typical Sky.

Devenny has been getting stick again, I still don't get this. He can't replace Eze so any comparisons are meaningless. He is trying to learn a new role under the full glare of the PL hype.

What he lacks in "magic" he makes up for in energy and this should not be underestimated. He kept the Forest defence busy yesterday which helped his team and took pressure off our defence. Yes he made some mistakes but he didn't let us down.

Glasner trusts him because he does the simple things well and plays to team orders, that is good enough for me.

It's not his fault that we don't have an oven ready replacement. Esse came on and had some nice touches but didn't really have an impact on the game. Again he is still learning and we can only hope he gets better. A run out this Thursday would be ideal.

In the meantime I hope the boo boys lay off.
Hes a poor mans hughes he shouldnt be starting in the 10 position its pretty easy to understand he doesnt posses the requisite ability to play there for palace.

At the moment he clearly isn’t at Hughes level but he is nine years younger. At 21 Hughes was an established Championship player but hadn’t played a Premiership game.

Neither of them should be in the ten position though I agree!

He lost the ball once I recall yesterday after some quick feet and releasing it to Sarr, who wasn't ready for it and mistimed it, but that wasn't on Esse. He also lost it once when crowded out and suddenly pressed by 3 Forest players at once, it probably shouldn't have gone to him. 3 other times he was fouled, once after beating his man.

Devenney did place some awful passes in the first half 2 or 3 times, and Kamada, although ok in the past few games was CONSTANTLY losing the ball and adding nothing, aside when he added something for the opposition. Glasner didn't play Kamada as a number 10 on the left anyway, he was always in for Hughes, where Hughes to me is the better player, and MotM yesterday for me.

Did anyone else notice when MOTD showed a summary of Forest's transfer window to date, how much business they've done with Botafogo?
When it was looking like Lyon would get relegated to Ligue Deux if they didn’t find the funds to pay their wage bill, Forest put in bids for just about their entire squad.

Lyon spending 6.9 mil on Matt Turner just to loan him to the MLS is a bit fishy too. Notts have way more links with Lyon and the rest of the Eagle Holdings group than we ever did.
