Crystal Palace vs. Newcastle match thread

That was a foul on Mateta by Scharr and a deserved yellow card, but could JP not have stayed upright and played on? We had a very promising overload on the left wing that he could have used.

Pino again showing he is not Premier League quality he should not be starting these games keep him for what he is good at the Europa games.

If we don't win this game we have to beat Spurs in next Prem game otherwise manager has to go.

More controlled half which is good to see. Midfielders and wing backs definitely playing deeper. We are much less easy to play through with Kamada in midfield. His positional sense is much better than Timber. Unfortunately we then lose out in attack all be it McNeil did ok. Game looks like what it is. Two poor teams scrapping away in difficult weather with a lack of quality.

Very even first half. We look good when on the attack. They are definitely focusing on the left side with Hall and Barnes.
Not sure how it looks on TV, but from the Main Stand the defence looks better. A couple of their key plays on yellow cards, if we can get just one upgraded to a red, then game on

The radio half-time summariser has just said that it's all Palace and Benitez has just been a spectator. Why, I wonder, does that give me a feeling of dread? 😕

Looks much more compact on TV. Wingbacks tucked deeper and midfield closer to the back three. Kamada closing gaps in midfield. Most of their best situations have come from us trying to play out and losing the ball

A team of modest quality are struggling to play in a swirling wind with low sun in their eyes, and are not quite over the effects of a big night on Thursday. Selhurst park has very Purley Way Croydon municipal Sunday league vibes today.

I expect, after Thursday's Europa game, Palace to tire around the 65/70 minute mark and Sage having to bring on lesser subs. Looking at the bench and despite the initial enthusiasm for a load of signings there's not a lot of quality there. Score early second half and hit them on the break thereafter.
