Crystal Palace vs. Manchester City match thread

We have a strong team. We're holding up the whole league! It's just going to take time. It's going to be a long season but think we will be ok. If not atleast it will be easier for me to get flights booked and tickets for championship. 😁

Time for Parish to go. He has done a great job for us, but . . .
You cannot keep infilling weaker players for those who have brought you success.
Witness Wrighty being replaced by Gabbiadini.
We have fallen into the hands of Yanks who are investors and are not prepared to put money into thr future of the club.
If YSL and Eddie are being depended on to keep us up, I really fear for the future!

Explain to me how any of this is on Sage?

Everyone forgetting the shocking form we were in the 2nd half of the season.
I feel for Sage but also question if he is right for this situation. It clearly isn’t his fault but equally he can still be the wrong person. We need a back to basics organiser who can grind out 36 points to keep us up. Right now we are just so easy to play against and totally open at the back.

Agreed, plus which manager is able to function well in these circumstances? The club can't keep it's best players despite success, the world cup means half his team don't come back to preseason until the last week or two, the squad isn't finalised until weeks after the football has already started and loads of the better players are deeply unsettled. Who exactly can do any decent work like that?

An utterly piss poor performance by all but Wharton and Tomiyasu.
Chris Richards was unbelievably poor and as for our strikers they are not even championship quality.
Bollocks to this!

So we're just 💩💩💩 then?
It's a lack of quality up front primarily, plus a defence that has no Lacroix or Guehi, and no Munoz tonight.

No Sarr, No Mateta. How is the manager supposed to compete with City or any top half team?

Parish needs to smell the coffee.

Sage needs to forget about playing to Glasner's system. He needs to be tough, ruthless and play what he believes in for this group of players

If he is good enough to communicate that we will be fine

If not, big trouble, and he will be out before Halloween

Better to be hanged as a wolf as a lamb

I dont think anyone can be surprised at our start to the season, Everton away and Man City home neither have harvested any points in many seasons. The next 4 games are the acid test against teams generally in and around us. Key players in Mateta and Sarr missing isnt helping Sage.
If after 6 games we are in the bottom 3, then its time to be concerned, its too early, yet.

Just shut up shop in a very pragmatic fashion in both games?
You cannot do that against City. They would beat the team we put out tonight no matter what tactic was employed.

These 2 games reminded me of how West ham looked last season.

Some will say Everton & City do not expect much from them well that is a terrible attitude remember we beat City to win FA Cup & Community Shield (Far stronger City team)

This City team doesn't look great either we made them look far better then they currently are because they are in a rebuild with new manager.

But didn't Sage play this system at Lens? Or at least the 343 formation, anyway. I thought that was part of why the club liked him.

He will absolutely carry the can if we aren't clear of the drop zone come Xmas, deservedly or not.

I'm just thanful we weren't playing a vintage City team.
I think a better team than us would get at the current team

With regard to us it's too early to judge.
A lot will depend upon if we hold onto Sarr and Mateta and what we do in the last days of the window.
They've just said we're the lowest spenders this window.
It's not all about the money, but you have to at least compete seriously for players .

Forget this result. You have to ask yourself how this team beats anyone.
We need a quality striker, an attacking midfilder and a centre half minimum this window.

How is Nketiah still at the club? He is a waste of space.
