Crystal Palace vs. Liverpool match thread

One win in 8 (League Cup)
Four league defeats in a row, 1 goal scored, 12 goals conceded.
Bottom of the league. 24 goals conceded (4 worse than anybody else). 10 goals scored, better than only Sunderland and Forest.
1 point above not even being in the Europa League playoffs.

Ultimately nothing else about Sage, Matt Hobbs or Parish matters in this moment. The squad is stuck until January and I don't believe another manager couldn't improve this now. With players like Wharton, Timber, Mitchell, Sarr, Mateta, Pino etc in the squad we should be doing better.

He has to go today and we need someone who is going to organise us. I vote Thomas Frank but whoever it is, we have to f*** off the back 5.

JHB is a grass then. Boo hoo. Talks about maturity too.

Forrest and sunderland dug in deep and got the results as the promoted teams look to run out of steam.

We really need to make a move now

I really regret going to this game today but hopefully I can say I was at Sage last match as Palace manager.

This Liverpool side was very poor and they have beaten us still by 3.
I suppose they could have sent one of their youth teams - or a womens team - and we would still have lost.

Well we set up better in the first half and had much more fluidity to our play but if you can’t defend set pieces it will cost you as it has all season. Second half once they scored it was game over. Again from losing the ball high up and then breaking on an exposed back three.

The effort was good and some decent play at times. If that was first game of the season you might feel hopeful for Sage. After ten games though with the worst defensive record we’ve had since promotion that has to be that for him. We need results and need thembadly.

At least today showed that with a manger who could tighten defensively there is something to work with in this squad.

Rock bottom. But...

Had we put in a fluke win there would be head scratching over Sage

The result means there can be no doubt.

We have 3/4 of the season to go with (surely) a new head coach and an international break to get up to speed, not to mention the Jan window.

It ain't good; but it ain't over.

Yet.

I think that's probably it for Sage, but at least he'll go out on what was probably our best performance this season. It's perhaps telling that this was arguably one of our best defensive displays, and yet we conceded three. The players worked hard, and our passing was in the main really good, and we played some nice stuff in the final third, but without JP or Sarr we just look blunt where it matters.

Some nice commentary after McAllister follows through studs-up on Wharton: "McAllister was unlucky there..." Funny, I thought it was Wharton on the floor after that? Studs-up is fine if you're Liverpool though.

There's a fat woman with a microphone over at the corner flag tuning up.

Probably one of our best performances, but in true Sage way, all over the place from set pieces and counters. High fullbacks at fault for 2nd and 3rd goals which causes the CBs to be dragged all over the place. And for all of the nice approach play we look lately toothless.

The arguement that our openness in defence is for the benefit of our attack... We've not scored in half of our games and almost didn't today.

Were we unlucky today, fairly, thought MacAlister could easily have seen red for the challenge on Wharton and not seen a conclusive angle that shows Kamada had the last touch before JSL put it in. But that's our biggest problem, teams don't have to play well to beat us. We'll always gift big opportunities.

Rather than making a change after the Brighton game, we've waited 3 more League games, further damaged our GD and are now bottom of the league. Hardly an enticing position for a new manager.

All in all, it's proper sh*t at the moment.

Sages tactics when we’re losing are shocking we should put all are attacking options in the mix to get the goals to get back in it . He’s clueless we know are players ain’t the best but we have to use what we got and he doesn’t do it . Parish is a fool . Sage and parish please leave
