Crystal Palace vs. Larnac match thread

All too predictable.
They defended well, but we made it easy for them.
What's the point of fielding three central defenders rolling the ball to each other in their own half while the opposition happily sit in their own half without being threatened.
Play with an extra body in midfield and press them in their own half.
Force mistakes.
Look like you're at least trying to put them under pressure if you're struggling to create.
Stretch the play.
Guessand and Sarr played so narrow cramping the play.
It's not as if our wing backs were creating down the sides.

This is not said in hindsight - it's been the pattern of a lot of our European fixtures.

Two home matches against Larnaca and no goals.
Loads of possession but terrible inability to make use of it.
No ambition to take the ball forward, we hold the world record for side and backwards passing.
There is a chronic lack of skill and ideas.
All the manager does is moan at his staff.
Doesn't bode well for Leeds on Sunday.

Boos from those still there at Selhurst Park, and you can't blame them.

There was a lack of intensity and attacking quality. They couldn't break down Larnaca even with Mateta returning to the fray.

Credit to Larnaca. They did their part in making things difficult. This will give them so much confidence going into the return leg in Cyprus.

This Palace is unrecognisable from what we have seen at times under Oliver Glasner. Much work to do.
Its unrecognisable because we rarely play park the bus teams .Even Macclesfield came out and had a go .
Bus splitting passing and tight intricate touches in crowded spaces were missing tonight .

It would certainly help.

Even if we'd scored twice in the first half though, it wouldn't have changed the opponents approach.

All these years hoping to see palace in Europe, and we're this far into it now and I can't remember a single good game we've played in. If I was offered Europe again next year I think I'd swerve it.
I'm hoping if we can somehow win this poxy tournament of non football the next manager will have the the book on smashing these teams in his back pocket .
Glasner just believes his way is the only way when its been shown 7-8 this season against lower level teams that it is not .

The question now is will they come out of their defensive block at home or will we have another frustrating night ? It wouldn't surprise me if we gave them a spanking in Cyprus even though it looks like their best chance of going through will be if they play for penalties

Absolutely awful.. All Larnaca have to do in the 2nd leg is exactly the same thing again. Stick 11 men behind the ball as they know we are incapable of breaking teams down and then they'll hope they nick it on penalties.

Let's be real here.. As exciting as it was to get into Europe it's quite possibly been the biggest anti climax ever.. We have been so poor in Europe all season and it genuinely wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if we get knocked out next week.
You do know our penalty taking is spot on so bring on the pens we would beat them , but we won't need them to beat them

The standard of this competition is desperately poor and we have been consistently poor. Not shown anything to suggest we are anywhere near capable of getting into the later stages.

The chances of progressing are now no better than 50 50. A hostile ground and most likely dubious officials could well see the end of the road.
I enjoyed the game and great tactical battle, cant wait for the next instalment.

Leeds will attack us which means they will leave gaps in behind. This will give us opportunities, whether we take them or not who knows. They definitely won’t play with all 10 behind the ball though.

I thought about going tonight, but I thought about the 1st game back in October and thought how predictable this would be, so I stayed at home. I made the right decision. Good night.

Dawdle Ball

I would rather watch Roy Ball.

Very poor glad I chose not to go tonight.

What is manager doing BJ right wing back and waits until 75min to do a change which is straight up swap striker for striker makes 0 sense.

Larnac are a poor team and will play for pens at home
