Crystal Palace vs. Larnac match thread

I wonder what Glasner was trying to achieve by replacing JSL with Mateta? Mateta whose performance on and off the pitch this season is well documented, and who the club tried to sell? Is Glasner under instruction to reintegrate him into the side with view to selling him later. There's no stake in it for Glasner as he'll be gone in a few months. Or is Glasner trying to have the last laugh?
JSL is just a poor man’s Mateta he can’t hold up the ball, can’t lay it off, and doesn’t seem to boss defenders the way a fit Mateta does. If Mateta gets match fit and hits form then JSL will just be his back up.

Being in the Euro Conf League is like a double edge sword, and unless we go far, it will be easy to turn round and say was it worth it? For what its worth I don't think we will win it this season. As it is we are only a win away from 9th place in the Prem so who knows where we could have finished this season without the additional matches and injuries? Of course we will never know the answer.
In addition, due to the size of the opposition clubs and mostly small stadiums circa 10k, we have received very small away allocations meaning the majority of Palace fans are not able to get a ticket to truly experience this European journey. If we get through this round and play Fiorentina more fans will get half a chance for a ticket.
That reminds me of when my brother who is a Blackburn Rovers fan complained about them not resting players for a European game. He wanted them to focus on the league so they could qualify for Europe the next season ( and presumably rest players so …).

Really?

I would say from what I have seen of JLS so far he is far better at hold up play and laying the ball off. Now whether he is worth the 48m we paid for him remains to be seen but he is an upgrade on JPM for all around play.

Sorry, just don’t see it that way, he’s a far more rounded player than Mateta. He’s quick as well for a tall player. That chase back 3/4 of the pitch against Larnaca showed his willingness to put in a defensive shift too. Oh and he also wants to play for us which is a massive tick in the box for me.

Just read a shocking statement from no other than the Man city manager , he doesn't know how to unlock a team that defends deep nooooo , what a top team can't do it well I be blessed , perhaps fans need to rethink about how our little old team is going to do it if a top manager and team can't

Pep cant, slot cant, both with an attacking line up probably worth about 400 mill each, yet posters on here seem to think its as easy as going 433 and chucking Devenny on, its obviously that simple.

These guys invented the sideways passing game that Palace and others have copied so no surprise they struggle to break down teams that sit deep behind the ball. When you’re wedded to that football your players aren’t allowed to do something different, like playing long balls into the box. The mantra is “keep stretching the play from side to side until a gap appears”. It’s a recipe for 0-0 against teams that sit back.

It’s got all of the makings of a terrible game, perhaps people should set the alarm clocks to wake them up when it’s time for penalties ?

We should all cheer up a bit,Spurs are playing next, possible they could put on that clown who pretends to be a 'keeper. 😆 😆 😆
