Do you remember in the 70’s and 80’s most players given a good opportunity in front of goal could place the ball in the net. This Palace team seems totally unable to do that. The best they can manage is to swing a leg at the ball in the general direction of the goal and hope for the best. Don’t they weed out the chancers on the training ground and try to practice goal placement? Maybe it’s too painful for the coaches to even go there and they’d rather muddle through running around cones etc.

It's composure and lack of confidence from the sheer amount of chances we ruin.

To be fair, Port Vale were probably a better side than Larnaca.

I disagree. It’s mainly as a result of a lack of basic shooting skill. Glancing up a split second before they pull the trigger to work out where the space is to the side of the keeper just doesn’t happen. Watch them as they shoot if you don’t believe me. Freeze the frames. They lack composure and confidence because of this.

It’s another tough watch I’m afraid. We just don’t know how to attack teams when they defend deep and in the rare occasions we get a chance we aren’t clinical.
