Crystal Palace vs Chelsea match thread

Defensively, we've just swapped Canvot in for Guehi. That's rough. Though Canvot has some skills, Guehi is Guehi. Canvot's decision making and inexperience will continue to cost us.

In attack, with Spurs, Brennan Johnson's talent was limited to slipping behind the defense and finishing well from through balls. He would have taken the chance where Mateta imploded again.

0-3 against this rabble of a Chelsea team tells you have really bad we are now. No structure. First 20 mins we looked to have a lift from Sarr and Munoz coming back. But as soon as Mateta missed we started getting worse and worse.

What an absolute waste of a Team and opportunity to push on.

Munoz, Wharton and Max will leave in the summer.

How on earth has that been given? Arms by his side and actually comes off his hip then on to his arm...

Unbelievable decision
The VAR decided not to show the angle from front or other side that showed that. Disgusting.

Up until today I was not worried about relegation because I thought once we got some of the missing and injured back we would pick up our play but after watching this mess I think we are in real trouble. We may not win another game for quite some time and West Ham is looking better. Maybe it is just my inner Willo but I am worried now.

VAR already said it is pen and yellow card

100% corruption.

This opens up the door for just blast the ball at peoples arms and you will get it everytime.

No, because they wouldn't give it for us.

Just like they didn't bother to do anything for Neto stamping on Sarr

On the other hand I think Uche will do well in the Championship

We all know what this managee and this team did achieve last year.

That, however, does not change the fact that we will do down with some 30 points and probably straight into League 1. In a class of its own, the worst team currently playing in the Premier League.

This is f***ing horrible. I think we are well and truly paying the price of the Yang to our FA cup winning Ying.

I f***ing hate this so much.

Shite as this is, compared to recent performances at least this has been better. We've been fairly evenly matched on the balance of play, just shocking in the key moments. Mateta cannot fall to score there. The first goal is comical. The second very sloppy. Henderson going walkabout under the cross for the poxy var penalty. Terrible mistakes, but at least not another tired, lethargic waste of a game. They have at least tried. Tried and failed, but tried.
Our defence down our left hand side has been appalling, the only bright spot is that we have more attacking balance with Munoz and Sarr down the right. 3 down after 65 minutes though is not a good look at home.

IFAB

"Generally, it is not a penalty if the ball hits a player's own body (foot, leg, chest) first and then deflects onto their hand or arm, provided their arm is not in an "unnatural" position. The key factors are lack of intent, close proximity, and the arm not making the body unnaturally bigger.

Key Details on Deflections:
Deflection rule: According to IFAB 2024/25 guidelines, it is not an offense if the ball touches a player's arm directly from their own head, body, or foot.
Proximity & Reaction: If the ball deflects at close range, giving the player no time to react, it is rarely considered a penalty.
Natural Position: If the arm is close to the body or in a natural, justifiable position (e.g., running, jumping) when the deflection occurs, no penalty should be awarded.
Exceptions: A penalty may still be given if the hand/arm is in an unnatural position (e.g., way above the shoulder) or if the player makes their body unnaturally bigger, regardless of the deflection.
In summary, a deflection off your own body usually absolves a handball offense unless the arm was already in a reckless or unnatural position"

Now he's sent Wharton off
