Crystal Palace vs. Burnley match thread

If we hadn't wasted £35million on Johnson (Spurs saw us coming) then Parish could afford to pay Glasner off. The manager has been a liability since he said he was leaving. He is fine when things are going well (and we had Eze and Guehi) but when things go bad he has no idea of how to combat it. His substitutions defy common sense and logic. His coaches incapable of teaching players basic ball control or how to shoot.

He should go now with our thanks for the Cup but with his reputation badly tarnished.
Yep, but he has already said, he doesn't care!! Yet this man is still here. Losing to Maccelsfield, Larnaca and Burnley. Even Roy would have won that match.

16 League games without a win before tonight and Burnley come to Palace and of course we obliege, as we generally do against teams on long winless run.

Guys, despite this massive lay out, we are still pretty poor with an even worse coach. Just grateful there are a few other clubs as bad as us, with the only difference being we have a couple of extra points (at the moment)

OUR WIN ON SUNDAY WAS BIGGER THAN ANYONE THINKS, AND COULD TURN OUT TO KEEP US UP

Anyway, here are the spooks.

Feb 11th 2026 - Palace 2-3 Burnley

The last time Burnley won in the league?
Oct 11th 2025 - Wolves 2-3 Burnley

Our next game?
Wolves, who are without an away win in the league for 16 games.

Only a fool would bet against Wolves winning, perhaps 3-2.

It is a good job JSL scored a couple tonight because he wouldve been first in the firing line considering if you removed his two goals, he seldom touched the ball and certainly didnt put himself about Burnley's big lads, compared to the weeds who play for the weeds.

His got a point tho, the 3 goals in 6 minutes had nothing to do with the system.
But the complete inability to put them under any pressure 2nd half did. As did losing to Macclesfield as did failing to beat KUPS as has taking 5 points from 30 in the league and plunging us into a relegation battle.

I hate to say it as I defended him but Johnson looks lazy, uninterested and unfit. Compare to how JSL has hit the ground running with his effort and all round play.

The only mitigation I can give is he is playing under a manger who has lost the plot and quite possibly the dressing room

I honestly dont think anyone's explained his position to him, his supposed to be a no10 but spends most the time running away from the ball, he's worse than pino, the only good thing about tonight was I dont want either of them ever starting ahead of Guessand

Too many knee-jerk reactions on this thread. At 2-0, we were looking good but then complacency set in. We dominated possession but didn’t get the breaks. Nothing wrong with the system, nor the manager, but we do need a midfield general and a strong on-field captain.

You haven't got a clue

When we signed Johnson I was excited. However, I remember seeing a number of Spurs fans on social media saying exactly tje same thing.... 'apart from tap ins at the back post he offers absolutely nothing'..

Looking back now how right they were. And it would appear that he was only getting those tap ins due to Son laying it on a plate for him. There's a reason why Spurs sold their top scorer and from his completely anonymous performances for us I can see why.

If we lose to Wolves, which I'll admit would come as no surprise to me then Glasner has to go.. I actually wouldn't care if he went now.

It wasn't the 40-45 minute collapse that annoyed me tonight but the failure to do anything in the second half that even looked like we would get back in the game let alone win it .

We have all seen how we struggle against teams sitting in or the low block as they call it these days which doesn't give me much hope of any progress in the conference . Wolves will no doubt be a similar tough watch on Sunday .
We are normally good at defending and the transition to counter attack , apart from that we have nothing to offer as far as creating chances goes .Playing sides above us is our only hope of points .

But well done Burnley enjoy your victory

It did a bit. All goals came from them getting in behind, pulling the ball back (third was a corner that came from this) and exploiting the space we left due to having no midfield. They should’ve scored at 1-0 from same thing too

I agree. We were so open and there was no structure. It was a simple pass to expose our back 3 time after time.

So nothing wrong with a system or manager when we have taken 5 points from 30 in the league and have by far the worse form? Genuine question. What would you regard as evidence of the system and manager not working?

Yes, one off here and there maybe, but there's a consistency about the continuous failure that is hard to deny. The players appear to lack conviction, there are no natural leaders in this group, and they sorely need someone new to give them focus and confidence.

Teams are on to it now. In every game in the last few weeks teams have simply played into space behind the wingbacks and exposed us time after time. Not really that surprising when it’s so transparent how we play and how to beat us

Still works better than 7 other managers tactics and system in the league

'Nothing wrong with the system or the Manager'...

We've just lost 3-2 at home to a side with the worst defensive record in the Premiership and who haven't won in 16 games.... Oh and let's add into the mix that we have won one in 13 and included in that is losing to a team in the National League North....

Oh and we have a Manager who clearly said a few weeks ago that he "doesn't care" if he's here until the end of the season or not.

But yes... There's nothing wrong at all with the system or the Manager
