Virgins in Croydon ? its a curious characteristic of Christianity that it has always had celibate Saints, monks, nuns etc. And yet some other religions like to besmirch Christianity for 'dressing their women like slags' while themselves not having a big tradition of adult-celibates ?
A curious paradox. If we are looking for a moral high-ground, then surely behaving virtuously is better than claiming to be virtuous ?
Joan of Arc, the Maid of Orleans......she only got the French nation to follow her cos she was a Virgin. They were seen to have magical properties, back in the day. Ancient Greece also held Virgins in high esteem and being close to the Gods. As did the Romans with their vestle virgins. Celibate women are also placed on a pedestal in Hinduism.
And Christianity allied to Buddhism may account for South Koreans ceasing to have babies ?
