Christantus Uche

For whatever reason, at the moment, the deal is not working. It would be interesting to see how he develops if given some more minutes on the pitch. It could be the Mateta scenario all over again ??
Mateta arrived at our club with a record in the Bundesliga of 24 goals in 67 appearances.
Uche has arrived with a record of a paltry 5 goals in 36 appearances for Getafe. During his time in Spain, Uche was deployed mainly in midfield, whereas Mateta was a No 9 at Mainz.

Good stuff our very own Statto. 😆 👍

Yep, personally I think he has the goods but then again I'm sitting here eating biscuits, so what do I know.

Don't think he's been given the chance though.

Yep, he was used all over the place.....more a forward than a striker but very much a player who makes space for others....but Glasner is seeing something he doesn't like there I guess.

I think attitude and application in training means a lot to OG. Perhaps there’s something missing there. From brief glimpses I thought he looked lively and worth a bit more time, but you have to trust the man in charge.
Sensed we’ve been avoiding triggering the buy.

Shame, I thought he'd bring something different to the squad and with a good age and potential but it doesn't seem to be working out. I guess if there's another option of the funds being used elsewhere that Glasner prefers then a return before the 'obligation to buy' would suit all parties. Surprised he's not been given more of a chance considering his versatility but I'm sure there's a reason for it.

Especially considering our squad size and Glasner's lack of rotation.

I'd probably have more sympathy with Glasner if he signed a bloody contract.
I very much doubt he will extend his stay.
He was clearly not impressed with our activity in the 'Transfer Window', signings players much later than he hoped.
Guehi will be at another club next season and perhaps others will depart.
Glasner will be coveted by bigger clubs and I expect him to be lured to one of them. His stock is high at CPFC so perhaps it is the optimum time for him to move on to new challenges.

I'm on the Parish train in this respect.

Glasner signed a two year contract. I think the message was clear from that.

Will he, i don't think he has the flexibility, sideways move maybe, cant see any big club putting up with 28% possession.

It isn't all parties, it's the player. You or I would not stay either.
The issue here is Uche could be a decent player for the future of Palace. And Glasner will likely not be the future. Just the realism of the way it is.
We're not the Glasner club of this season. We're Crystal Palace for the rest of our lives and beyond.
I said Uche would leave if he were able to some time ago. It wasn't exactly hard to predict. Esse would leave too, given the chance. So will JRS. People can say they don't care as much as they like. The reality is, we need to look after the future and now. Not all youngsters are Wharton. Obviously they need playing time to get better.

Glasner made it patently clear that he wanted players to be signed early in the 'Window'.
What transpired was that on the last day Uche was signed and he has hardly had a kick.Whether he was foisted on Glasner is a matter for conjecture.
Guehi was about to depart to be replaced by Igor Julio who has only made 3 PL appearances from the bench for W.Ham all his appearances being late in games. The Guehi proposed move was thwarted at the 11th hour on the final day.
From the outside it gives the impression bordering on shambolic, however it should be noted that the purchase of Canvot appears to have been astute.
