I too am glad we haven’t kept upping our offer on this one. It felt as though we were being held to ransom a bit so I’m glad we’ve walked away.
It’s not good business just to keep caving in, as clubs get to know they can try it on.
Maybe, just maybe, if we got our deals sorted before we announce to the world that we’ve sold a player for £X million then perhaps we wouldn’t be held to ransom. I’m sure our credit line is good enough in the interim to support purchase without completion of sale.

Mate we now have 3 centre backs - in a 3-4-2-1 formation - we need at least 5..!!

We now have £52M for Lacroix - course teams going to push up their prices for their best players - we need to sign 2 centre backs.

We’re in Europa - we need depth..!!

Just don’t get the blind faith in Parish..!! He does it window after window..!!
I agree with this wholeheartedly apart from the final paragraph.
You can't achieve results without a proper defence and at the moment I would not be confident about our keeping clean sheets or having the depth to compete in the various competitions.
Glasner had Richards, Lacroix and Guehi drilled into a very effective unit.
It looks like three of those components will not be there for the start of the season so Sage cannot even lean on the quality and experience of Guehi and Lacroix.
I'm not being negative, I'm calling it as I see it.

And we're into our 14th season in the top league under his stewardship which is more years in the top flight than in the rest of our history combined.

Encouraging us to just spend way over value isn't very sensible.

Come to think of it wasn't Textor also pushing Parish to spend spend spend?

Adn how do you know that we havent replaced Guehi....maybe Canvot and Riad were the replacements, just brought in early as we knew Marc wasnt resigning.
On your last point, because it was largely quoted that Riad was a player brought in because of Andersen leaving and the requirement for additional CHs due to a tactical change to 3 at the back and Canvot was not expected to progress as quickly as he was forced to do due to the departure of Guehi and the failure to directly replace him.

In many ways it was fortunate that Canvot matured into his role as well as he did.

We have no ambition!!
Why does it seem to all these speculations we only have 51mill to spend on transfers from lacroix deal , is someone fiddling the books at the club lol
They will sign tomiyasu now(who didn’t play) and get 4-5 games before he’s out for the season.
We Struggled so much after Europa conference games last year in league and now going up to better competition with smaller & weaker squad.
Looks like we’re going down same road as West Ham
The problem at West Ham wasn’t the fact they didn’t spend a lot of money. It’s just that they wasted a lot of it on rubbish.

For me typical Parish - procrastinates and procrastinates - then pulls out too difficult to do..!!

We have £52M form the Lacroix deal - what’s the problem..??

We should be getting in Matsima and Le Guen with that..!! Remember we still haven’t replaced Guehi..!!

Riad, Richards and Canvot - won’t be enough..!! Arguably not good enough..!!

Don’t know why Im surprised - Parish does it every window - Sage must be wondering what have I got myself into..!!

😡
No, we change the formation to fit the players, its called management.

They actually made some good buys over the past couple of years with a profit of almost 100 million on Kudos, Summerville and Fernandes. If Diouf moves, I would expect they would get a good price for him as well. But a poor central defence and the lack of a consistent central striker cost them. We have Guehi and Lacroix gone and Mateta wanting out - though chat about him has been very quiet. If two promoted sides show promise, it could be a difficult season. Current predictions I have seen have usually put us 16th or 17th

He was great when we played Bristol city, pony for us.. I always thought he looked like mowgli (jungle book)

I met Carl and his wife in Sainsbury’s in Chislehurst when he was with us. They were wearing matching fur coats and looked like a pair of ostriches. A typical trendy footballer and too good looking for his own good. Gave me short shrift when I said hello so loudly slagged him of off all game at the next Palace match 😬

Not yet we don't.

For once it looks like we aren't selling before a replacement is identified.

True, if the Lacroix deal completes we will have the money. Although it's not been reported anywhere, should we fail to bring in a replacement then it's just possible that Max stays for now. Not that I think that will happen.

I don't think we should forget that there were a number of other transfer issues last season. Only achieving £20m for Guehi v. the expected £45m, the purchases of Johnson and JSL without the expected £30m had Mateta moved.

Books need to be balanced.

Sounds like a right t***. Always a good idea to shout at famous people. It's brings them down to earth.

I can remember a bloke at my work saying he'd meet nick carle and saying he was a bloody ugly. Mind you, so was he. Funny I remembered that.

Or it's simply because Lacroix has gone on holiday after the WC and will complete the formalities when he returns

Max has now gone , so time to sort out who comes in .

We’ll make some offers , look around for a deal that makes sense footballing and FINANCIAL sense .

We’ll get many right but have an occasioanal Clanger :

BUT now the “ have faith in SP “ supporters ( I’m in that group ) have three trophies to back up that faith 😎

Business as usual . The time we might be able to step up is once the the new stand is finished and income goes up . More money to play with .

Yet again, player sold prior to replacement coming in.

Recurrent theme at Palace, not sure why I should expect anything different.

End result, prices go up for targets and less time with the coach before the season begins.

I am not sure which way you want it .
We got a player in before JPM was about to leave , then he didn't .
Was that the right thing to do ?
Please don't go on and slag the player we got .

Couldn’t have put it better myself.

That’s my frustration with Parish - does it time after time - window after window.

Some people on here may think that I’ve got it in for Parish - I haven’t our greatest ever Chairman undisputed.

But he is so infuriating when it comes to transfer dealings - makes the same mistakes time after time..!!

And JPM is still with us and we’ve offered a new contract..!!

Meantime we happily shelled out £47M on a player - that based upon performances to date ain’t worth half that..!!

Just bizarre transfer dealings.

The promoted teams have been very quiet on the transfer front than compared to last season and time is ticking. Think Sunderland brought in around 15 new signings, likes of Coventry etc have 3-6 at the moment. I reckon 2 including Hull are really going to struggle.
