EXCL | FC Augsburg have ended negotiations with Crystal Palace for Chrislain Matsima today. Two days ago, Augsburg/Matsima‘s camp believed they were close to a breakthrough. However, it was never a done deal. The final details regarding bonuses and the payment structure could not be agreed, with Palace refusing to compromise.Matsima and his agent have been informed of the decision, which was communicated today. Matsima will now travel to Augsburg’s training camp. The club do not expect #CPFC to return with a new offer.

Well, it's been another great Summer so far.

Perfectly happy for us to walk away, we should only ever pay what we believe he's worth.
The question is do we have other targets! I do hope we don't end up spending 30m+ on Chalobah as that'd be really bad business. Letting Lacroix go for less than his value and then further helping Chelsea out by overpaying for one of their players that they're desperate to shift.

Undoubtedly we will still go ahead with the sale of Lacroix and then we will hear that we couldn’t get another CH over the line other than the cheap youngster who isnt ready for the prem.
It has a familiar ring to it and we’ve seen it all before so don’t be surprised if our reserve CHs for the season end up being Lerma, Tomiasu and the youngster.

Yup this would not surprise me that we see the Japanese lad as a budget alternative.
It's a gamble due to his injury record. Wait and see I guess.

i don't mind us walking away from any deal if the goal posts keep moving, or we don't think it represents value for money, however, we desperately need a plan B option.
Regardless of whether we are to play 3 CBS or a back 4 we need one who can win 80% plus of headers.
Riad and Canvot can play second fiddle with another defender who can organise and control the defence.
Richards is ok, but not sure he can step up into the Lacroix role.
If the plan B is a 19 year old kid, an injury prone Japanese player and/or an overpriced Chelsea cast off we are in trouble.
Hopefully Sage has a potential alternative up his sleeve.

Why does it seem to all these speculations we only have 51mill to spend on transfers from lacroix deal , is someone fiddling the books at the club lol
They will sign tomiyasu now(who didn’t play) and get 4-5 games before he’s out for the season.
We Struggled so much after Europa conference games last year in league and now going up to better competition with smaller & weaker squad.
Looks like we’re going down same road as West Ham
