Chrislain Matsima

It was rumoured that Warnock was not enamoured by Leon Cort because he rarely got booked and Warnock was not keen on such central defenders !
Leon Cort was signed by Peter Taylor.
And Leon Cort was one of our best players in a poor team, scored a few goals as well, but you can’t argue with Colin, he turned that poor team heading for the trap door into a top 6 side…….and he gave us the warrior that’s Clint Hill who I loved

Warnock's signings also included Paddy McCarthy, Jose Fonte, Claude Davis, Darren Ambrose and Shaun Derry.

Perhaps Sage was a fan of Micky Droy (one for the older supporters).
6 foot 5 inches with a turning circle like a heavyweight lorry.
Had a very good left though and had decent footwork.
I think the term is 'good feet for a big man.'
Micky Droy did a magnificent job for us when Coppell got him on a free

Perhaps Sage was seen us at corners, apart from Mateta/Larsen we are a small team, Richards is probably our best header of the ball, but much much good if he is taking the long throw

We are looking to bring in two French centre-backs, both around 6'5 - 6'6. Both are supposedly at an advanced stage and had medicals. One is Matsima, the other is Le Guen.

Seems that Sage definitely wants a nice big lump at the back. Tradition.
Very early days but could be good business getting in 2 young French centre halves with the LaCroix money. If they are as good as Canvot then it definitely will be. Canvot will be one of the best centre halves in Europe in the next couple of years imo.

No one used to get passed him that’s for sure, if they were a bit too nimble he’d hack them into next week🤣…….doubt he’d get away with it these days. But he was definitely part of the tide turning under sir Steve

My old next door neighbour was John Bumstead. He said when Chelsea fans started rioting at away games in Div 2 Droy used to come up to him all worried and asking if they should stop the game. True story.

100% agree. This is exactly the sort of model I want to see, replacing our big sales with 1 who has enough experience to come in and do a job straight away. And a kid with bags of potential.
