It hasn't been widely discussed by Sky. Sturridge waffled about rules are rules without being asked if it was a rule he'd ever heard of.
 
A point away at Chelsea, not to be sniffed at but it's always nice to win on the opening day.
The disallowed goal was a real surprise. A real surprise.

Definitely not. I feel like VAR has been brought in to subtly navigate positive outcomes for big teams when the referees themselves haven't been able to fish up something. Oh, VAR says it was XYZ did it? Must be fine then.
 
A lot to be proud of in that performance.
All credit to the manager and the team after the disruptive week.
Not a bad display out there with special praise for Mitchell, Lacroix , Hughes and Mateta.

However, there were some tired players out there at the end, accentuating the need for more options.

With every tackle now a foul/yellow as a minimum you have to have options to use with the jeopardy of the second yellow card.

Also have to look at that bench and feel worried.
 
A very good point. Looked cohesive in defence and attack. Back three excellent again. Thought JPM held the ball up really well and showed his strength. Wharton back up to speed and looked a bit physically tougher. Good in transition and with more luck we could easily have won it.

Ludicrous decision to overturn the goal. Yes it might be in the laws but that’s the first time they’ve applied it in six years. Of course I will change my judgement if they are now consistent and overturn say a late Man City winner in the same circumstances. Suspect there is more chance of Satan going to work in a snowplough though …

Sturridge is another c*** employed by the only corporation on the planet that would take the punt. Another in a long list of pundits that justify why I won’t pay for the bollocks the talk.
 
At the end of the day, a tight game between two fairly equal teams that cancelled each other out.

1 goal would have won that game, but we know what happened there.

If you’d have offered me a draw before the game I’d have taken it.
 
A point away to the Brighton bomb squad ain't too shabby now I'm coming to terms with this fuckin rule that had a perfect goal wiped out.
Let's see if it's used everywhere and in every game henceforth.
