Chelsea vs. Crystal Palace match thread

But how many times has it been used before?
I watch a LOT of football and never recall seeing it applied before.
Perhaps it only applies if you're playing the World Champions.

Leaving aside my obvious bias, is anybody else fed up of VAR looking for reasons to disallow goals.

I recall Danny Blanchflower opining that football was 'about the glory.'
These days he might say it's 'about the VAR.'
To be honest I have not seen a goal disallowed owing to this proximity ruling.
Perhaps the fact that Guehi moved the defender away and the ball went past the wall in the resultant gap was enough for VAR to alert the referee.

So having trawled the FA website I can find no reference to a referee being permitted to spray a 1metre line to let the attacking team where they should not be at a free kick. Darren England should be sanctioned by the PGMOL for a clear act of bias towards Chelsea.

With respect, in my humble opinion the incident did not warrant a penalty.
I don't recall any protests from our players.
Apart from Guehi who sat rubbing his head for 5 minutes whilst complaining to the referee. Honestly, you need to be pretty biased to say that the keeper got the ball. He didn’t, end of.

Man United got a free kick against Arsenal and if the ref drew this line then I didn't see it. Maybe he didn't know who to favour.

It hasn't been widely discussed by Sky. Sturridge waffled about rules are rules without being asked if it was a rule he'd ever heard of.
TBF Chris Sutton was outraged by decision. First time ever it has been implemented what a f***ing surprise.
Sincerely hope we complain every time attackers line up in front of our wall

Getting decisions against the big clubs is near impossible. Having goals ruled out for a newly-implemented rule, is low, even by Palace's previous experiences.

A point away at the world club champions can't be bad. And the performance was even more encouraging. 👍
Apparently it’s been in since 2019, yep I know…never used until today
