Censorship and Social Media

Chanting something that is essentially a protest against the policies of Israel towards the people in Gaza is not wishing personal harm on the individual members of the IDF. They want to see the death of their action in Gaza. Not of the serving soldiers.

Anyone being anti semitic deserves to be punished. No argument about that.
This first paragraph is nonsense. So that idiotic Glastonbury “ performer” when chanting death to the IDF he was not wishing harm on members of the IDF 🤔
Using your “logic” should he just not have said “disband the IDF”

I am not inside his head! Are you?

I am not speaking about individuals. I am talking generally. About the average person who felt disgusted by what Israel did to Gaza and joined in with a chant.

I sincerely believe that most would not wish to harm those conscripts expected to do the dirty work. Nor any physical harm to those deciding the policy. The latter need to face the law for war crimes.

No but I will have a good guess who is in your head 😂. So you don’t believe he should have been prosecuted then? Fine but that says a lot about you. Many of the regular protestors couldn’t show you Palestine on a map, so saying they can separate the Israeli Government to conscripts in the IDF would possibly be a step too far.

That is another assumption but even if true the reaction of many to what they have seen on their TV screens is understandable. There may well be some highly motivated anti Israel types there too but they would surely be able to identify Palestine.

I was in Israel 2 weeks before the Hamas atrocity. I chatted with members of the IDF who are everywhere there. Just young people serving their time. There was a lot of protests about the government interfering with the Supreme Court going on while I was there. The need to see the return of the hostages has, understandably, united the people but Netanyahu is not popular. It’s the Israeli government that’s the target for criticism. Not the IDF.

All of which may appear to have no connection to Censorship and Social Media but it does. Netanyahu having openly spoken of the need to interfere in the algorithms to remove criticism of Israel and put pressure on the owners of the big platforms to do so. Whilst they use the platforms themselves to spread propaganda.

Google has accused the UK government of threatening to stifle free speech

Maybe people will start to take notice now. Because it's not X or Elon musk saying it.
They are wrong, so it’s now up to our government to patiently explain why, and for Google to resist the pressure from the Trump administration.

There’s nothing at all in the legislation which affects users rights to post legal content. The ONLY things impacted is illegal content. Things that would not and could not appear in the MSM. Free speech is protected. Hate speech isn’t.

Honestly! we know you don't like Trump or his administration......give your TDS a rest for a few weeks and enjoy Christmas!

Perhaps they should employ you in their legal department, you seem to know more about this than the multi billion company does

The regular protestors ?
even the expert Palestine protestors ( without google) would struggle to tell you of any Palestinian....
- footballers
- musicians
-writers
-actors
- famous food dish
- historical figures

or even what is its Capital city. Without google , would they be stumped ? Such questions could be answered relatively easily for Norway, Egypt, Turkey or Wales.

Looks like after the terrorist attack the response Australian government are taking is to crack down on those hurty memes that are shared....

Palestine isn't on any map, and it shouldn't be either.
most proper old countries* have a language....distinct from neighbouring countries. Capable of creating a textbook & university language course.
I went onto Linguaphone and couldn't find Palestinian.

New Empire countries may all speak Spanish, English, French whatever - New Zealand, Colombia, Canada. But Old countries should have an old identity & unique linguistics - and this to be well represented by their politicians and academia. Morocco, Finland, Japan. I cannot answer the question for Palestine.

Did the Palestinian language get censored out of existence ?

If you read some of the interpretations of this legislation in the USA then your conclusion would be justified.

I don’t though think that applies to Google. They are doing what they believe they have to do to keep Trump off their back. If they started to cooperate with us, or the EU, then their business could be disrupted. So they, and we, must ride out this storm until it’s over and normal service is resumed.

The Trump regime is seeking to impose the US approach on us and many other countries. They want control over the narrative. We cannot allow that. So there are threats of counter measures if we try to exercise our right to govern ourselves. Trump just being the bully he is. We have little choice but to indulge him and string him along until we no longer have to. Which could be sooner than some imagine.

If quoted as the justification for violence against others then yes, I would hope and expect so. There’s incitement to violence in the Bible, but nobody takes it as serious instruction these days. Should they start encouraging others to take it literally then they too ought to fall foul of the law.

That’s because, very unsurprisingly, they speak Arabic there.

By the way, what connection does your post have to the subject of the thread?

Funny you should mention this period, because that was when the land was Christian and ruled under the Byzantine kingdom. "River to the Sea", "Always been here" etc. Nope, it's changed hands and populations massively. Even the name Gaza is Egyptian, they named it Gajat after conquering in 1500BC, meaning "Land which ruler seized". It was in many hands with many different peoples and beliefs, including the Cretians. The muslim terrorists today are simply the latest and no it is NOT theirs.

It’s at least as much their’s as it is the current state of Israel. Which is the actual point.
