The photograph of the WHITEMAN charged with various offences following the injuries caused by a WHITEMAN driving at crowds of diverse people in Liverpool has become as common a sight in the media as the Che Guevara image in the 1960s. Did I mention that the accused is a WHITEMAN.

I also note the suspects face is plastered everywhere, along with his employment CV and the road where he lives and description of his family.
Obviously, this is going to impact his family, neighbours and employers by leaving them potentially open to harassment. The media can't just identify "the suspect, a man in his 50's", as they would with any other case not involving a white man.

I see the sympathy is now starting to pour in now he’s a WHITEMAN in his 50s and can’t possibly be guilty.
The police wouldn’t have charged him with so many charges if they weren’t pretty confident he was guilty.
Oh, and they’ve been so open with his identity and background to stop the online ghouls (see eagleman’s post) spreading made up bollocks speculating that this was terrorism or was carried out by an immigrant/asylum seeker to try and prevent another Southport happening.
It’s ironic that this is required purely because of this and then people will still shout this boring ‘two tier’ nonsense.

No sympathy for him at all. However what happens when a non white person commits a similar offence. Will the police an media treat them the same?
If they think it’s going to stop online speculation and a potential reaction similar to Southport then yes.
They have to treat every case on its merits and what they think the best course of action for damage limitation is. In this case it was clearly to be as transparent as possible as soon as possible to stop the online agitators doing exactly what they did with Southport.
While people will naturally be thinking about ‘next time’ they can’t really prioritise precedent and have to do what they think is best for this particular case.

If you believe everyone on this site the only demographic that has ever been oppressed is the straight middle aged and middle class white man.
The only thing ‘two tier’ about this is all the reaction depending on the demographic of the perpetrator.
