Call a general election petition

More indicates they can't be bothered. Which brings us back to election turnouts and real choice. There would be no point in Starmer going, as there is no current realistic alternative. Give it two years and by election loss, after by election loss, then huge losses in local elections and we'll see. Particularly if Reform continue to receive funding and use it wisely.
What's funny here Steeleye is that I know full well that you don't like Starmer. Too Tory for you. Which he is frankly - just Tory lite. You can just imagine him drinking a light Ale - he genuinely seems that weak. He's like a ranting, fat uncle who's always been a bit ill and you don't let the kids visit him. You just see him at occasions and he goes off on one - completely irrelevant and ignorant to whatever is actually happening.
👍 👍 👍 👍 👍

This labour government is not tory-lite, it is tory-heavy.

Banking means property and asset increases, high interest rates and stagnation paid for by businesses and working people, further de-regulation and what it caused last time are on the chancellor's agenda.

An election as others are saying would just not solve anything though, tories would be far more effective imo if they moved sharp left, not right where their immigration record further exposes them.

Time for a donut.....

They are forced to shift right as Reform are nicking Tory M.P.s and funders. A far right sort of Beauty contest, what an ugly thought.

Delay tactic due to the perceived unpopularity of current government?

Not surprised. Started with jailing tweeters to scare us, then cut finance to the old, farmers and NI raise. I doubt they could jail 1000s when this goes totally pear shaped next year. Labour have in effect moved too early as they played all their jokers in 6 months. So stoopid.

If you live in an area with a good council and it is being taken over by one that is badly run I can't imagine that will go down to well.

This strikes me as having similarities with the Brexit outcome.

You can't keep calling for another vote because you don't like the result of the original one.

If you subscribe to the view that the Tories made an unholy mess of the last 14 years you have to wonder how effective were Labour in Opposition. Under Starmer's leadership I'd not seen anything that would have inspired me to vote for them. Actually quite the opposite. But it was clear that he would win the election more on the back of disenchantment with the Conservatives than anything else.

This Labour Government are not unique in backtracking on pre election promises. But - just my opinion - I think their competency is rightly being questioned. And they seem to be unable to ' read the room ' politically.

Sadly I believe that it's now a role reversal. An incompetent Government with only a feeble Opposition Party challenging them.

And if there was another Election....who would you vote for ??

Not remotely surprised by this. 2 possible reasons.

First, Labour has spent too long in opposition and has forgotten how to govern. The political landscape has changed a great deal since last they held power it is hardly surprising they are struggling to adapt. Whether time will enable them to catch up is moot; but even if they are governing better, they will continue to present badly as they are not the well-oiled PR machine the Tories are.

Second, Labour got in on a landslide but without the popular vote and with many voting for them as they are "not Tory". I would say the latter probably accounts for much of that 1 in 4.

So if this pointless petition gets a new general election and the conservatives win, then what another petition set up by labour voters?
Sadly regardless of your political viewpoint, this is called democracy we allow people to vote for a government.
Communist! Come on you lot - strike him down!
