Call a general election petition

True - an indication of many peoples dissatisfaction - or dissapointment - with Starmer/Labour.
However no one can really expect to get another election. Roll on 2029 !
I saw an article the other day that claimed voter turn out (%) in the last election was the lowest since universal suffrage started .

The Tory vote collapsed with "stay at home Tories" whilst the Labour vote remained steady. It's like the joke where the Sergeant Major says "volunteers take 1 step forward" and most of them take a step back leaving the mug in front.

1997 was a genuine landslide for Labour, it's no surprise that this time Starmer and Co are in trouble already.

I think the issue is after so many years of all the 2 main parties screwing us over (and the liberals with the coalition), nobody really cares anymore, if there was a none of the above on the voting form, I think that would win.

Bottom line is, all MPs are self obsessed megalomaniacs what ever party they are in, they are riding the gravy train, 660 of them, 95% couldn't give two shits about what happens to the normal man/women
Lanzo, I just don't agree with this, and I think it is an easy criticism to make when we have been badly served by our governments for many years. But I still think the large majority of MP's of all persuasions are trying to do good by the country as they see it (and whilst not at all supportive of Starmer, I fully believe that he is trying to do right as he sees it). Their competence is a completely different question. To my mind there should be pre-qualification to be an MP that you have held down a responsible role in a non-political job for at least 10 years, in order to have any sensible claim to be able to decide how the country can be run better.

But starmer doing what he thinks is right isn’t actually for the majority of the population. Even he knows this. That ultimately should be the threshold.
Jailing tweeters, allowing 1000 s of illegal immigrants to reside here in a high end lifestyle, stopping payments to old people, raising taxes on everyone indirectly, believing the state has to control our moves and thoughts, 2 their policing, etc etc. none of this is in the interest of the majority. So your statement stands but not in the bigger picture.

I actually agree with you - my key point was that I think most politicians are doing what they think is right rather than being in it for power and money. There is definitely an increasingly large strand of left-wingers who sadly no longer believe in free speech and democracy. They would rather have their viewpoint forcibly imposed on the population as an authoritarian state. I don't think Starmer is one of those, though his policies have been disastrous so far, and the jailing of people for tweets is the very worst of it.

I believe it is four years and ten months away, like you i'm dead keen to show the countries support for Labour, No lying by Boris, No printing dodgy money unfunded by Truss,No D-Day dodgers like shifty Sunak. No wonder Britain voted Labour in.
No green belt left, huge rises in water bills, dissembling Brexit, huge pay rises for Union pals paid for by taxpayer, wasting billions on net zero, funding foreign farmers whilst taxing our own. No wonder I didn’t vote for them, the only saving grace is, if they carry on at their present rate this shower of shite will be wiped of the face of the earth. Unfortunately I doubt we will have much if a country left by then

Over 60 million Brits have not signed the petition indicating they think Starmer is doing a good job.

🙂
I'm forced to agree.

We had a 'petition' a while back, AKA the general election, and The Tories got chucked out.

This Labour rabble were always going to screw up because of a lack of experience in government if nothing else. However, I will be the first to congratulate them if they do anything that benefits the country, and especially me and mine.

I shan't hold my breath.

More indicates they can't be bothered. Which brings us back to election turnouts and real choice. There would be no point in Starmer going, as there is no current realistic alternative. Give it two years and by election loss, after by election loss, then huge losses in local elections and we'll see. Particularly if Reform continue to receive funding and use it wisely.
What's funny here Steeleye is that I know full well that you don't like Starmer. Too Tory for you. Which he is frankly - just Tory lite. You can just imagine him drinking a light Ale - he genuinely seems that weak. He's like a ranting, fat uncle who's always been a bit ill and you don't let the kids visit him. You just see him at occasions and he goes off on one - completely irrelevant and ignorant to whatever is actually happening.
