Budget 2024

That's what you get with Free Services. If it doesn't cost you anything to miss it, then you do not consider the consequences.
It's the same with restaurants, Those that do not require a deposit for bookings are subject to plenty of 'no-shows' which affects thier takings and puts their survival in jeopardy.

It's pure selfishness and incredibly inconsiderate. In the case of the Restaurant it's putting livelihoods in jeopardy, but in the case of the NHS it's putting people's lives at risk.

I'd welcome a Fines for those that don't turn up for appointments.
That’s fine as long as there’s a working facility to do so.

the gov have plenty of departments that fine people for various reasons, and the NHS can charge people in certain instances. I'm sure they could implement such a system without too much trouble. It's not like they do not have their patients personal details already.

Sky news Sunday Reeves very matter of factly admits she lied before election about tax
Pathetic, get over it.

What do you think the Tories did in their last year? Deliberately failed to resolve any strikes, and put money aside for say the Post Office and blood scandals.
Any spare cash they made sure they gave away in NI tax cuts (and promised another unfunded one BTW) and then were not open in providing info/data to the incoming govt.

It was only when Labour got in on day 1 did they have full access to the books.

No one wants to raise tax but the situation dictates.

Anyone who doesn't understand that is just being stupid.

The Tories would have done the same or made even more welfare cuts - so punishes the poor and vulnerable even more.

By insisting pay rises are linked to productivity and or modernisation of contracts. Still thank god we have a Labour government who demonstrated their tough negotiating skills by giving in to the unions, that'll show em. 😀

Starmers election strategy was to occupy the centre while the tories went off to the right, which they are now doing even more.

Labour’s current objective seems to be retain the neoliberal status quo, serve corporate interests and protect the ruling class, and do whatever the USA and Israel wants, including wars which is why I didn't vote for either.

The budget is 80% treasury and 20% Labour, the treaury officials certainly 'briefed' her on day one alright, ambushed nore likely it would be completely new to her.

'The government is in office, the treasury is in power'.

And how great they have been. (satire).

😎

A cross between economically illiterate and broken promises . A low growth ,low job security, recession inviting budget .
We are not going anywhere with this government but down a socialist sink hole .Small business and farmers hammered , students and pensioners robbed . Billions thrown at lost causes , Labour vanity projects and public sector and unionised industry wages .

I really fear for our young people , no prospects ,no housing ,no future .If I was just starting out I would be sorting out my travel arrangements and work visa for the southern hemisphere , the UK is about to go pop!

Never have so many been p'd-off by so few so quickly - pensioners, small business owners, prudent savers, farmers and now students. Who haven't been p'd off - Unions I guess.

I was going to say that I am not stupid but couldn't work out how to reply to NM Palace 😆 so maybe I am!
I do so hate being lectured to by lefties though.

Surely negotiating a rate within the budgets they have will be a better way forwards. I know self employed earn more than paye but not 5 x more.
Or some sort of a rebate from each agency against the spend annually.
This gives another reason to be short staffed ! and the agencies need the business from the NHS.

Rip off doctors.

Wes Streeting can start here. Some consultants work part time then do "extra" hours at crazy rates.

Labour's first NHS test are they brave enough to break up this cosy little cartel.
In Civil Service, if you are on part-time hours, you do not get extra for overtime until you exceed full time hours ( hope this makes sense).
Train/tube drivers will, presumably be getting overtime rates for working a 5th day. Poor them

A family member worked at a hospital where the CEO cut nursing staff to the bone. Fortunately for the hospital her husband ran one of the largest nursing agencies in the country so was able to help out.

Personally I would ban agency staff or put a cap on what the NHS will pay. The staff then would have a clear choice join the NHS permanently or go fully private. There aren't enough private jobs so most would come into the NHS.

As I said in my post I hope Labour do this but they will be up against the vested interests. They should also force consultants into the same situation.

Shock horror, the economy has stalled in the last few months, so much for this government's key priority being growth.

Guess what, if the senior government figures spend all their time telling the media that the economy is in a mess and then endlessly briefing that the up coming budget will hit business is it any wonder?

The so called budget for growth was nothing of the sort, it was a budget for the public sector funded by the private sector.

I expect unemployment to go up and investment and growth to flatline.

Well done Labour.
