Budget 2024

UK borrowing costs rise as stagflation, stalks gilt market according to FT today.
Outlook for our economy looking a tad concerning and we await Bank of England's announcements tomorrow to get a better idea as regards how much damage Rachel is doing to the UK finances.

It is the BOE that is damaging the economy, they maintain high interest rates out of self-interest while the USA and EU cut theirs, making the UK even more uncompetitive than they have been since brexit.

And they have the nerve to blame the outcome on others.

The chancellor, like the tory one, I'm afraid is a banker and personifies the scrooge dickensian banking image of victorian times.

They will screw the poor for shillings while the wealthy take their pounds elsewhere.

We can forget investment and growth with these people.

😎

Nothing at all to do with the tax on jobs with the rise in Employers NI then?

The BoE is constantly wrong, Steeleye knows even less about economics that the ex HBOS customer complaints handler Starmer made Chancellor.

Rayner's son and daughter in law do p*** on OnlyFans, quality cabinet Starmer has.

BOE and OBR are both rubbish. But Rachel from Accounts and her boss really screwed.

Because they promised the nation not to raise income tax they had to fiddle around the edges to raise the money they wanted for a splurge on public services.

Employers National insurance is a tax on jobs that plus Angela Raynor's new bill on employee rights has scared the business world into freezing recruitment.

They would have been far better off raising income tax if they really had to raise money.

That really is the point badger. 1 or 2 p on tax would generate a whole lot more. No need to mess with tax codes NI etc. I’m sure someone will know what on average that would cost us but now we are in unknown territory waiting for the recession which wouldn’t happen with a simple rise.
For all his Lilly livered existence as PM Sunak told us what would happen and here we are.

Reeves should have reversed the two NI employee tax cuts by Hunt, which the public recognised was damaging and did not affect their defeat at the election.

How much longer will Reeves be allowed to stay in office as proving to be a disaster in her role and destroying the economy ??

Until she has eradicated the blackhole, you know the one she claimed not to know about. 🤣 If she blocked Eddie’s ridiculous net zero power trip and paying African farmers, the blackhole would be filled in

Agreed, and it would also have avoided the enormous damage done to business by the employers' NI increase, and like it or not, it is successful business which ultimately generates the value which pays for all public services.

The post & article asked, “How long will Reeves last?” Not the current government.

Reeves will be moved aside soon. Most likely when 2TK’s replacement assumes office.
Reeves and Starmer are umbilically joined, I thought that was general knowledge, for Reeves to go I think the government would crash.

it is the BOE and Reeves that are umbilically joined.

'BOE governor to accompany chancellor on visit to Xi'.

Governments may change but the order doesn't.

😎

The blame will just be put onto Reeves, she will be the sacrifice for Starmer to remain untouched.
Any parting of the ways would be a very public admission that the Budget was a pile of 'Horse conkers' seriously damaging the Economy.

Labour keep asserting that their focus is on 'Growth' yet they have burdened businesses with a hike in their NI contributions and the impact has been well documented. The economic outlook is bleak thanks to Starmer & Co.
The only 'Growth' is the growing number of the electorate totally dissatisfied with this current Government.
