Brighton - Tactics required

So the moving forward to Sunday we play a seaside team whom seem to be scoring many goals

Versus us who leak many but could leak more

What tactics does Sage employ to stock the floods but put away the chances ?

Do we cancel 1st half ?

Brighton are a very mobile and fluid team with players making late runs into the box from all over the field.
I don't trust us to track the runners so we really need to block the spaces and sit deeper.
It will be a test of our defensive resolve and organisation.
I'm going to say that for sure the game won't be goalless.
I said the same about Leeds and that worked, so I'm going to try it again!

They always cause us problems at set pieces so let's see how we handle Dunk. If we put a small blocker like Wharton on him it almost certainly won't work.

Tracking the runners is vital - players like Hinshelwood are very forward thinking - when he scored that header a couple of seasons ago he walked (and it was a walk) about 30 yards into our area without anyone even attempting to go with him (think the culprit was Jeff Schlupp).

Seeing how easily and unchallenged Munoz was last weekend whenever he went forward does not bold well.

Having said that we were compact against Leeds so a similar set up might work

I think Lerma will be back after he was rested against Lyon. I don’t know if Tomiyasu and Chilwell are available but we could do with some experience in the squad. Benitez has done well but having Henderson back would give a real boost to everyone.

We have scored 17 goals in our last 7 matches and Brighton will be wary of being caught out if we get the opportunity to attack! I’d take a draw which incidentally was the score the last time Rob Jones refereed the Brighton v Palace match.

Play like we did against Leeds. Drop the wing backs deeper, play the back three more centrally and play Kamada more as a third midfielder than an out and out ten to give Wharton more time on the ball. Look to hit them quickly on the break.

Leeds was the only Legaue clean sheet we’ve had and the only game we didn’t conceded multiple clear cut chances or look hectic and disorganised defensively.

I’d start Sarr up top, get him to run in behind and play quite direct.

Looking at it the other way which of our players/tactics will they be concerned about?

They probably think they are on a good run of form we are playing shite and it's all set up for a 1-0 palace win.

They're a very good side in all departments. Our defending is Sunday league and needs sorting very quickly, these last two games first halves have been filthy.
Brighton will win 3-1

We are poor at defending high balls coming in to the box and especially so at the far post, so unless Sage can sort the defence out before Sunday whatever tactic we use we will not be able to keep Brighton out. We lack leadership in defence to compound matters, therefore it will be hard to come away with anything for this game thus thrusting us back in to the thick of it at the bottom of the table. I would love to be wrong on this, but my head says otherwise!

I think the main tactics we should use not just for this match but for every match and i hope Sage reads this , Score more goals than they do ! it has been proven to work . 6-7 Palace win .
