Story in The Sun that we are watching/interested in him.

Would make sense (to me anyway) and perhaps worth a thread... given The Sun is such a reliable news outlet.

Good player but his wages would be an issue (reportedly £200,000 a week). If he wants a move he'll probably have to accept a hefty cut - not many clubs will be able/willing to pay that much.

He is 27 so in his prime years, but there are some serious considerations.

(1) On very high wages at present
(2) Has bad injury record
(3) Will have reasonably high transfer fee
(4) Little resale value
(5) Will probably alert bigger clubs if fee / wage demand is reduced.

I don't think it's worth the financial risk.

Except we can't have two loan players from the same club.
Agreed. So either we sign Chalaboah or send him back. If we send him back Chelsea wont be happy so why would they do us any favours.

My guess is Chalaboah will continue on loan until the end of the season. He has shown promise but also made mistakes so I think it too early to start talking about buying him.

Agreed. Don't forget, Richards is now available & Riad should be in a couple of weeks. Richards is probably the more versatile as he can & has played across the back 3 whilst Riad is predominantly right sided, so they would give us more depth & cover at the back.

This is the issue. Unless he's willing to take a cut, he'll probably just sit out the rest of his career.

that being said, if Chelsea would let him go for free, I'm sure someone (not us) would pay him 100 odd.

As others have said, the injury issues make the wage too big an issue
