Back 3 with no maxence or lerma

I’d put Canvot in midfield he can run can take on players he needs a chance to prove himself

I hope I’m wrong but I don’t want Kamada or Hughes to be making me keep swearing again & again
To be fair he played for France Under somethings this year as a marauding right back and looked very accomplished on the ball. I'm not convinced about his distribution in terms of being a full time midfielder but he could do a job there for sure (a bit like when Joel Ward filled in in midfield as an emergency, as did Chris Richards more recently).

How has Hughes been making you swear? Bar the odd early yellow, he's been outstanding in every game he's played.

I know we butt heads on this on almost every thread, but the midfield had significantly more control when Hughes went off and Kamada came on.

Love him to bits, but Hughes is not outstanding

Now, now. He did switch to a back 4 when he brought Guessand on. For a side that can't play 4-4-2 (according to OG) we didn't do badly in that final 20 minutes -not great but not badly either.
Fair comment, but the fact we didn't start with a flat back four, nor start with Guessand on the pitch (who I think has shown to be quite a creative option) still makes me feel like he's reluctant.

Really makes you wonder why they didn’t need a centre back in the last window….that stupidly could cost them big time.

now we have seen them together i don't think we can play both Riad and Canvot in the same team.
Both are young and inexperienced and have a tendency to rush in.

Riad has been out for 18 months so needs to be reintegrated slowly and will not be at his best until next season. I was amazed OG played him on Thursday as the Wolves game was always the more important. Obviously no one could predict that Lacroix would go off injured, so he probably stayed on longer than OG wanted, but to say post match that he wasn't sure he had 2 games in 3 days in him was a bizarre comment, as he picked the team.

Other than the stupid booking, which was shocking defending, i though Canvot was ok yesterday and going forward he looked ok. However, he still makes me nervous and is a long way from being a regular performer.

It appears Lacroix's injury isn't too bad , which is great, although Richard's took a bang to the head late on yesterday and the cut might require stitches.

Surely Thursday is the perfect game to play a flat back 4 with either lacroix or Richards with one of Riad or Canvot, probably Canvot so Riad is fit for next weekend.

For Man U i'd go back to the back 3, with hopefully both Lacroix and Richards fit.

However, if Lacroix and/or Richards get injured before the end of the season we are in serious trouble.
Spot on. Could you somehow get your thoughts into Glasner's muddled head. His team selection in the past few months has been totally bizarre....... and that is being very polite.

I was the first to admit he was too rash last week - you'll see my comment in the thread. But at least we looked solid and never really looked like conceding, versus previous games like Burnley where they just walked through Kamada and Wharton at will.

The midfield had significantly more control in the second half against Wolves because we played 2/3 of it with an extra man - obviously. We're always going to boss possession and be pushing for a goal in that scenario.

Hughes is limited offensively. That's clear. But in terms of making us solid and robust, he's outstanding.

did you not watch the game on Sunday? Hughes was constantly late and making stupid challenges, even after an early yellow card. Was subbed to avoid a red.
Yes, I watched the game.
I've admitted he was too gung-ho in the first half.
Apologies - I thought you were referring to Hughes in general makes you scream, didn't realise you were talking specifically about the Wolves game.

One thing I'd say though is that I'd rather someone is a bit rash and picks up a yellow, than let the opposition bypass a midfield without so much as a touch on them.
