If the worst does come to pass, and Glasner leaves in the summer, here's a possible replacement: Attilio Lombardo might be available to take the reins.

Unfortunately, the reason for his (probable) availability is that Sampdoria, where he's a coach, have just dropped into Serie C for the first time in their history.

Sampdoria are based in Genoa and there's a bit of a Palace connection with the city at the moment, as Genoa CFC are currently managed by Patrick Vieira.

Didn't he caretaker manage us before and wasn't particularly good? He's pretty much always a coach or an assistant.
It's a fair suggestion but I can't see it. In a lower division, yes. But we're not like that now.

Firstly, watch who gets the sack in the Premier League. Secondly, think of up and coming, relatively young, managers in the top European Leagues.

Yes, he was caretaker manager late on in our disastrous 97/98 season, with Tomas Brolin as his assistant / translator. Surprisingly, this didn't quite work out and we finished bottom.

(To be clear, I wasn't being entirely serious about Lombardo taking over)

Fair enough. He'd probably be a good coach for our wingbacks in our current system when I think about it.
However, I'm relatively sure Glasner likes his own pick of staff. I don't think he was too keen on a Director of Football model.

Why? He is an assistant manager and not a very good one. You might as well suggest Jedinak, he will be out of work in the summer, after being sacked by Spurs.

I'd love to see Jedi manage us, but only if he brought in his fellow beard Joe Ledley as assistant.

Often great players do not turn into good manager the mild mannered Bobby Charlton did not do well at Preston, aggressive players like Jackie often do, Pulis was an ultra aggressive player and made a good manager.

Christ he’s a blast from the past, he was a quality player, always remember his shiny bonce!

Had Brolin as well didn’t you iirc?
