Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace match thread

To my ageing eyes he does appear somewhat portly but perhaps he is as slender as a gazelle and I need to pay a visit to an optometrist.

No he’s definitely looking a bit like a salad dodger, but I’m sure he’ll say it’s muscle

They did really well in the circumstances. I can understand the gamble on Wharton if Doucoure is almost fit...sadly it backfired.
We should be going full tilt for the cups..we are an established premiership team and have never won anything other than Div2/Championship and the mighty ZDS Cup!!!
Sadly Schlupp should not be even on the bench on Saturday and Doucoure will not be quite there. So a front five of Hughes,Kamada, Nkietia ,Mateta and Sarr with a very inexperienced bench.
Hopefully Wharton will be off for his op today and Eze will be back in a couple of weeks.

Schlupp has unspecified problems which is why he has not been available for many months. We have no idea if those problems are ongoing or resolved.

However he is clearly unfit and should not be anywhere near the first team until he is. I would rather have a youngster on the bench / sub.

Munoz had a good game last night not only attacking he ended up defending in their half towards the end of the game. This is what we have been missing defending from the front.

Glasner seemed confident post match that Wharton would be available for Wolves.
It can't be ideal though going into a game knowing that one of your key players could break down during the game through carrying an injury.
Lerma supposedly won't be back until after the international break and Doucoure has only just returned to training.
We are stretched in midfield with Hughes under threat of suspension too and Schlupp patently unfit.
I think it's a case of crossed fingers and hoping to get through the next couple of games with regard to our midfield.

Did Glasner say anything about the Eze injury?

Slightly off topic, but the BBC do nothing to allay the fears that they show some bias against Palace when they place us here on the football front page. We're fourth from bottom and just beaten the team that's fourth from top, but apparently two Scottish football games, talk about an Arsenal youngster and talk on Man Utd's next cup fixture and yet another article about their team is more important.

We're lucky we're not after the fantasy football tip of the week. Don't know why I bother with the BBC sports page anymore!

Great result and hopefully we can pick up a home draw for the quarter final.

The best thing to come out of this result though is it now means our away fixture against Brighton in December will now be moved from the pain in the backside Monday night to the Sunday which suits us fans alot better!
You're not wrong KB, just been confirmed by the club, game v Br1-3ton will be played Sunday 15th Dec @ 14.00 live on Sky

Did Glasner say anything about the Eze injury?
He indicated that it was too early to be definitive.
The problem with hamstring injuries is that strains can become tears so I expect them to be cautious and I’d be surprised if he plays v Wolves .

God this site is so slow now - too many pop ups etc…

Anyway, pleased for Kamada - what a classy goal.

Reading through all the posts the lot of you should be ashamed of yourselves. He’s technically a decent player but needs time to adjust to the premier league - a bit like Jedinak and his first season - remember him?!

Give our players a chance and stop slagging them off - look at how well we’ve done last night and without Eze and Wharton completing the game.

I’m proud of all our players that wear the shirt - wish others were too.
Have you tried installing Adblock? It's free and it works for me, on my computer anyway.

Still think he’s not up to it regardless of the shame I should be feeling. Frankly I’ve got no idea how you reconcile wanting a player to be good with having to watch continually poor performances. He strikes me as being another Max Meyer or Jordan Mutch.

At times there is a glimpse of a decent footballer but he’s already cost us a couple of goals this season and very nearly did it again last night. If anywhere he has to play as an alternative to Eze in a forward midfield role because he is a liability in central midfield.

I’ll cheer all our players on, but I’d be happier with Doucoure, Wharton, Lerma, Hughes, Sarr or Eze than Kamada at present. He could come good, however the jury is definitely out.
