Ashes cricket

McCullum is on another planet. Saying that the team trained too hard or whatever. The response to that is "they were doing the wrong training". Some had never faced a pink ball and even I know that being in the nets is not the same as match practice.

I think this team could beat the Aussies with the right preparation. They just haven't had it. Having a stubborn coach who won't admit to his mistakes cannot be tolerated.

Winning the Ashes down under is probably as hard as winning in India for us.

Nevertheless the management team and by that I mean both ECB and England's direct management fumbled this hard.

They were given full reign and it's not even a contest.

I totally agree. I was thinking back to Ashes series in England. Some of the Aussies would always play county cricket for a while. Ours look like they've never played in Australia before. And surprised by the conditions. It's tame to say the least. England should have at the very least played some of the Australian teams on a tour. Even for two weeks. Two or three three day matches or so would have been fine. They'll probably admit that in about a month. It's not hindsight, it's blindingly obvious.

It's like their scared to tell the players to be a little more conservative. A mentality of 'if we tell them to play with less aggression, then they'll play we none'

In Root they have the answer. The only player who has any kind of Cricketing head on his shoulders. All the rest should be ashamed. The amount of Ducks in that 1st innings is deplorable.

A batsman who respects good bowling, can stay in for hours and is capable of manipulating the field by playing the ball between then rather than trying to hit it over them all the time?
