Arsenal predictions.

I have just heard that Eze is unavailable due to an injury he sustained in the Brighton game.
One of those 'strategic' injuries I believe as Glasner confirmed he will be available for the Bournemouth game later in the week.
It reminds me of the story about the old Liverpool manager, Bill Shankly.
His players would get nervous in training leading up to a match if he aproached them asking about their well being and suggesting that they didn't look fully fit.
This was inevitable prelude to being dropped.

I think we lose this one, but we must push on after Christmas.

Here's hoping that the divine intervention by Jesus on tuesday coming so near to his birthday will be all he has to offer until after Christmas day.

Really depends what team we put out so can’t really comment about the cup match.

Think Saturday could be a draw 1-1.
I think it depends on what team they put out…..if they put out the first team as they did in the second half of previous game we are in trouble.

To be honest, and I hate to say it, but with recent performances, I can’t say I’m overly bothered.
Tend to agree with you. By Eze’s high standards, he has rarely shown the level of ability he demonstrated at the end of last season.

We have other options available to us.

Also like to add, I thought Clyne was the better RWB on Wednesday. I hope he starts.

With Olise formed a partnership and opponents could not manage to shackle both of them. Need Eze to gell with one or hopefully more of the players playing on the right - or through the middle.

I think the test is do we think opposition managers and players would rather play us with Eze in the team or out of it? Pretty sure the answer is out of it. Has he been at his best? Absolutely not. Does he still offer more than his likely replacements (Kamada or Nketiah)? Yes.

I take your point re opposition managers and players but I’m not sure he has offered more than Nketiah or Kamada in recent games. Glasner admitted he subbed Kamada for Eze to regain control of the midfield against Brighton when we were being overrun in the second half.
His foot injury may be a large part of the reason he’s not the creative player he can be at present but he offers little defensively either and his positional sense isn’t great.

With Eze out OG will probably start with his favorite toy (Kamada). Would rather see Lerma/Hughes and Doucoure/Delveny in the starting line-up. Not a game to expect any points, but give the opposition a tough game and hopefully no injuries, I will feel pretty good. Who would have thought we would have got 4 points against Man Shitty and the SeeGulls beforehand?

I’m a bit bemused as to why Doucoure isn’t starting in DM. He has the aggression, physicality and mobility we need- I know he’s had along time out but i think he’s been looking more like his old self with every appearance. That’s not to say Jefferson and Will haven’t been good but we will get overrun in midfield against Arsenal today if we don’t get up in their faces.
I’m hoping a slight change information to a 3 5 2 might allow for this. Devenny on the right, T on the left and either Sarr/Nketiah up top with JP.

COYP!

I think OG has shown he is loathe to change formation. He didn’t vs Fulham when we didn’t have a fit central midfielder available. At the moment the best midfield two look like Hughes and Lerma. Doucoure is getting there but has looked a touch off the pace when he’s played. Hopefully he can get back to his pre injury best because that would give us a real boost

Absolutely agree with a solid 3 of lerma, hughes and Doucoure but it won’t happen. It would change the system too much especially with Munoz also missing. Plus with our thin squad I would guess one of the warriors 3 will sit on the bench as cover for the 2 that do play.

My preference would be for Hughes, Lerma and Doucoure to start, but I agree that this is unlikely to happen.

With his irrefutable logic , Glasner yesterday pointed out that Arsenal can’t score when defending their own six yard box and are more likely to score when attacking our own six yard box.
He wants us to be more aggressive in possession and have Saka defending against Mitchell rather than vice versa.
A noble aspiration, but is it realistic?

Our likely full backs today - Clyne and Mitchell - are happier defending and often get nose bleeds crossing the half way line.

Glasner also suggests we should be more confident pushing forward as we have enough defenders back to deal with opposing attackers.
He pointed out that Arsenal’s third goal the other evening was due to poor defending as Jesus had nobody near him to make a challenge. We lost our discipline.

Football is a strange game.
Many of us were complaining when Hodgson used to insist on keeping players behind the ball and not throwing players forward.
Now many of us are nervous about gaps left through pushing forward, in particular against better teams who excel in rapid counter attacks.

I'm little concerned for this one, although the score did not reflect it, we looked out of our depth when gunners started playing fast one touch football and our defence looked like chickens with their heads cut off, the passing out from the back was also very poor, love a win but being realistic, we would be very lucky if we can manage to come away with a point!
