I don't think any board does this, I agree with you. Our impatience comes from the media painting the process like some kind of video game. Scouting > Rumour > Medical > Signing. When in actual fact that process can be a lot longer and break down at any point. Coupled with the fact the majority of rumours are false, it makes it look like we drag our heels or give up on promising targets that we'd never had a desire to sign.

Even thinking about the Khalaili situation. Inter move fell though, we obviously were already in touch but told them in Jan that we'd come to sign him in the summer.

If I were Khalaili, I'd be disappointed about Inter, but happy to have a back up in Palace. I'd task my agent with going out to find a better option before agreeing to Palace.

Fast forward a couple of months, no other offer materialises, so give Palace the green light to bid and it all goes through quickly.

Agreed. I bet Palace would not be first choice for many players who no doubt would prefer one of the big boys. Our task is to convince them we are their first realistic choice with the good possibility of their real first choice down the line.

alan pardew said that most transfers can take up to 2 months to do from first contact being made.

Some can be last minute when desperation sets in but most of the time the agent is made aware of interest a long time before it even gets into the media.

Yes, and to attribute that purely to the courting club is unfair. Agents, WAGs, selling clubs etc all get in the ear of the player. I suspect very few genuine transfers fall down due to incompetence once the ball is rolling.

Protest if you feel the desire to do so, just not at Selhurst as the Palestine Israel conflict has nothing to do with Palace. In fact unless you're a lefty, muslim or antisemite the conflict is largely irrelevant.

If we're going to bring non-Palace related protests to games I can think of far more worthy and relevant issues; pot holes that need fixing, loss of greenbelt land, cheaper beer, train delays etc.

I mean, protest or don’t protest, that’s the prerogative of the individual, and it’s not something I’m going to judge. Nor am I going to tell people how valid their cause is.

What I will say, though, is that if you’re going to shout about something as sensitive and complicated as Israel/Palestine, at least educate yourself first and maybe learn something about the player himself.

This lad is an Arab-Israeli who has represented the Israel national team. He’s received grief from Israelis because of his Arab heritage, and grief from Palestinians who see him as a traitor or criticize him for not speaking out about the conflict.

So he’s already spent his life being caught in the middle of something far more complicated than most of us will ever experience.
The last thing he needs is a load of English football fans who haven’t even bothered to look into his background shouting about a conflict they’ve decided they understand after reading a few posts online.
