Anan Khalaili

You know what, I’d genuinely forgotten about his nationality until you mentioned it again. I had focussed on his arrival in purely footballing terms and looking forward to what he can offer us on the pitch.
I’m the same as you, never even gave his nationality a thought until it’s made a thing of by others and the media.
If he comes into our team and makes Munoz look average he’s that good, he could be Hitler youth for all I care

That said, it's quite an ironic piece of memorabilia that. I think I'd wear it. The pomp around him joining was at least significant.
I got started on by one of our own fans for wearing it. I laughed it off, which was lucky for them. I wore it as an ironic statement on the fruitlessness of striving in a capitalist dominated economic environment in a post post-modern society, so in some ways he was more correct than I. But I didn't tell him that. My reply was two words.

West hams chant for their Israeli player 🙃
I hope we don't get any of that. It's the sort of thing an 8-year-old would come up with and, given the current climate, something that could well end with an FA fine. 75,000+ Palestinians killed by Israel, but none by a footballer playing in England. Hopefully, unlike our dimwitted East London friends, we show a classier welcome to Khalaili.

Who knows...we had dimwits in the HFs waving Palestinian flags on the anniversary of the atrocious 7th October attack. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hopefully we can keep all politics out of it.

Absolute slaughter but don’t dare protest ehh 😡

Goren (agent) also revealed that the Eagles wanted Khalaili for almost a year and were the player’s second choice.

“Crystal Palace have been in contact with us for a little less than a year, and have wanted him since January, and in the end it worked out for them. There is no club in Europe, including Inter, which they are the pick of the teams that play the system, that did not want him."

Good to know that we are making early contact and lining up signings way in advance.

Agreed. I head an ex Manager say that good clubs make contact with players the window before they sign. So a lot of the hard work for this summer should be done in the winter window before.

I'm confused. Are you saying we should protest against a player who is of Arab-Israeli descent, who, as far as I am aware, has not spoken out in support of Israel's aggression? I support people's right to protest, but placing the war crimes of a country on the shoulders of a young lad playing football seems wrong to me. Also, Khalalili isn't even Jewish and is essentially a Palestinian who was born in Israel, so it doesn't even make any sense to protest against him, as his people have been targeted by Netanyahu too.

It also is contrary to the view that Parish and co just sit on thier hands and wait until the last week of the window.
