Alton Towers to remove disability pass for people with ADHD and anxiety

"Alton Towers will not allow some people with conditions like autism, ADHD and anxiety to use their disability queuing system this February half-term.
Merlin Entertainments provides a ride access pass to help visitors to its theme parks who have a difficulty queuing because of their disability or medical needs.
They say the number of people requesting the pass has been increasing, adding that disabled visitors have said the system "simply isn't working for them" and that "queue times for these guests have increased".

Unfortunately, Alton Towers are finding too many people are claiming disability benefits. (shock) 😱

I think we all know this is happening. It's vey difficult to call people out on it. (I am currently registered disabled) I recently went to a concert where the front row was for people with disabilities, A man walked in slowly with crutches and took his seat. 10 minutes before the show started , I saw him walking to his seat (without crutches), carrying a tray of beer. As the concert ended, some 90 minutes later, he was dancing in front of the stage with other people who'd left their walking sticks by their seats. There is no denying the urine is being extracted on a massive scale with this. These fraudsters need weeding out, then it should make things a lot easier for people with proper disabilities.

Disney world had the same problem and I think also did the same. There was a bit of a hooha about it and it may be that they moved to online booking with a restriction on the number of relevant disabilities. The ‘hidden’ disabilities were the problem, although each year we noticed the number of wheelchairs increasing.

I used to work with a bloke who went to Disney Florida every year, and he used to take his non-verbal, disabled mother-in-law with him just so he, the wife and daughter could all get in the disabled queue with her.

He used to say that the MIL was terrified of roller coasters, but because she couldn't talk, nobody at the park knew.

I sheet you not.

Apparently they are stopping people turning up on the day and getting a pass cos they say they have ADHD, anxiety or a bad back and because they cannot be challenged due to fear on the worker’s part they have given to them a queue jumping pass. Those that are genuine can apply, with proof, and get a special pass for all fairgrounds (like Alton Towers) and big venues for days out.

To be honest, as someone who is autistic myself and find travelling on the DLR a very scary experience I can’t imagine there are many people like myself that will be wanting to queue to go on these sort of rollercoaster rides anyway!!

When we get a Reform government these type of hidden disabilities will not be recognised at all.as their policy appears to be they are 'made up,'
Unfortunately for those with genuine disabilities, the fraudsters have forced companies to change their procedures. Hoping it ultimately makes things easier for those genuinely disabled.
I think we all know of a 'friend of a friend' who gets fraudulent benefits, which tarnishes people's opinions of those in actual need.
