Alieu Njie

Well said. Oh for the days of Alf Noakes and ("Chopper") Bert Howe.

And what about that Celtic side, which was the first British club to win the European Cup (in 1967). Apparently the whole team was born within 11 miles of Glasgow, though no doubt there were a few names there with - to us southerners - unpronounceable names.

(With apologies to everyone, particularly Glaswegians, for going right off topic.)
Simpson, Craig, Gemmell, Murdoch, McNeil, Clarke, Johnstone, Wallace, Chalmers, Auld, and Lennox. Substitute goalkeeper John Fallon. No other subs allowed back then. Memorised that team 60 years ago! Only 3 of them still alive.

Watched his highlights. Left winger , fast , dribbles at speed with control , likes to take on and beat players , seems to be able to get out of situations you don’t expect him to get out of , great shot ….

A memory is stiring , but one thing is missing , a vital ingredient to make him a complete palace left winger ….🤔🤔

Dummy spits , petulance …. Maybe they edited them out 😳😳😳

Looks like WZ Mk 2

Interesting …..
Just did the same. The body language, skills, shooting and dribbling is so similar to Wilf it’s uncanny. Weird…..

Willie Wallace who came to us and a European Cup winning player signing for Palace at that time was quite a novelty.
Bet Mr. Glasner pines for the days when the only subs allowed were goalkeepers.

Didn’t we sign John ‘Yogi Bear’ Hughes from them at the same time? Big, lumbering centre forward who scored at Selhurst when we thrashed Sheffield United 5-0 or 5-1.

We did and he scored two that day and it looked as though we'd signed a real winner, he had a great shot and really good close control then he got injured and never came back the same. We ended up selling him to Sunderland where his brother Billy was playing but he hardly played for them. After retiring he ran a pub in Glasgow.

I think I remember him being sent off for thumping someone

My memory is clearly wrong, but I remember the Gerry Queen one, cheers
The yogi sending off was during a match with a very second rate Ref
During the second half a supporter ran onto the pitch hell bent on attacking the ref
Yogi got to him first saving the ref.
A few mins later Yogi was late in a tackle and the ref sent him off
