Adam Wharton injury fears

Should have had surgery immediately after the Liverpool game and he'd already be 2 weeks into his recovery without missing a match.

Struggling to get past the hour mark during games and is obviously limited. Need him back to his best asap.

Missed opportunity in my view.

If it wasn't affecting his performances then you could understand the reluctance to give him the surgery, but he has been well below his best, so surely they have to bite the bullet? Maybe they are waiting to get Doucoure back first? Or maybe they are just hoping we can pick up a few wins so the pressure is off before signing him off. Whatever the case, I just hope they aren't risking his longer-term future by continuing to play him.

I find it strange and a bit disturbing that we are allowing him to play whilst carrying an injury and in some pain. It seems he needs to be seen by one or more specialists to establish the nature and extent of his injury. Apparently nobody seems to know and so it must be a matter of urgency to get the best medical brains on the job - and hang the expense. I worry that by continuing to play him it could make his condition worse - and thus in the long time extend the time he is out.

As others have said, the longer a remedy is delayed the worse it could get. He is such an important player we shouldn't take risks, he is young and I'd guess this being so he will recover quicker from an operation.

This short-termism is bad, we must look to the future.

Our medical team are not great are they. Kid should have had an op if needed before the international break.

Who remembers Olise and his amazing cameo that put him out for months.
What is they say… if you do the same thing you’ll get…

Apparently we’re following the advice of his specialist. As someone with decades of experience in medical rehabilitation Im finding it hard to understand why an orthopaedic surgeon would recommend playing with painkillers rather than a sustained period of rest or surgery now. It makes no sense to me.

Performance enhancing drugs are widely outlawed but drugs without which playing is impossible are permitted. Curious.

Didn't we play Wilf with a hamstring problem and he has never been the same since? Olise totally screwed by Roy, apparently we don't seem to learn!

Agree ,what the hell is our club playing at ? A bright young talent that needs all the care we can muster having his body abused for the sake of what it seems is going to be few minutes off the bench . He obviously was just sitting there on Monday as a spectator or he would have got a run out . This strain needs sorting asap , it shouldn't even be a discussion if he is having to take drugs to get him through a game .
The lad needs to be fit and firing on all cylinders and if that means time out so be it

Totally agree. I'm old enough to remember reading that Liverpool's Tommy Smith had to be filled with pain killers before every game. After football he had to have a new hip and both knee replacements, and I also recall those sad pictures of him walking with two sticks and then in a wheelchair. Still, I suppose Bill Shankly and the fans would say he did a great job on the pitch.

Whether we like it or not, information flow from Palace on injuries has always been thin. Whatever his problem is, I just hope we are carefully considering the value of a 100% fit Wharton even if it means missing a few months.

It didn't end there for him either.

A good ol spray of deep heat on his nuts he'll run all day
