Review of the season so far!

Palace seem to have done it again,managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory,after a brilliant end to last season,this one has been a disaster,selling Olise was hard but going to happen,but the board are culpable for the sale of Ayew,Anderson,Johnson,and buying ,Nketiah an Arsenal reject they couldn't wait to unload,Sarr a failure at Watford,why did we buy him Henderson £20,000,000 waste of money when we had Johnson and Kamada a useless out of his depth
Player to replace our go to Mr reliable Ayew.They broke up a defense that worked for the money,and let a World cup performer go,and replaced with dubious player credentials.Tried to be clever and replace with last minute bargain buys,well this time it has come back and bitten us big time,and the blame in my book is Parish and Freedman,if we stay up this year it will be a very close thing,personally it's time for a change in the boardroom,and some fresh thinking about the challenge ahead!!

In simple terms it's been a bad season so far......and the bad news is that it could get a good deal worse.

In the coming games, teams we face include Newcastle, Villa, Arsenal, Manchester City and Brighton.
We also face Ipswich away in that run.
It's difficult to see too many points there, even if we get a few players back.

There are no guarantees that Eze, Wharton and Nketiah will be back after the international break (Glasner referred to 'hoping' they'd be back).
Hughes will be back, but Kamada will miss 3 games- I know there are some that think that will be a blessing.

In conclusion we're likely to be around the bottom 3 during December.
I think it's going to take a strong transfer window to dig us out of this hole, in particular in attacking areas.

Our version of a strong transfer window will be Edouard coming back at the behest of his loan club.

Usual palace really, injuries, disjointed, lack of goals, sloppy defending, BUT as we all know, things can only get better, and they usually do.
It’s only those that were predicting a European place finish on the back of the last few games of last season that are probably tearing their hair out about it all now

It's been crap for years really on and off mostly off. Jeez, we ain't had a decent striker since Murray have we. I said a long time ago in a post, can't remember which one it was a long time ago, that the lack of investment will see us tread water and, there you go. I was shot down in flames by loads on here for saying it. Well, it's now come back to bite us on the arse fair and square, I can't say I'm surprised. We don't just need a first 11 with subs, we need backup too for situations like this, how long we been in this bloody league, jeez rant over.

Some will blame Glasner, but for me the board and SP are responsible. Every season we buy players last minute, this season we compounded it by selling/loaning out so many at the same time. Add on bringing in players that don’t fit Glasners system (long term DF targets) and it’s no wonder it’s a disjointed mess.
Injuries haven’t helped. But we rinse and repeat this cycle every couple of seasons. That’s down to SP and the board. No ambition to do anything other than survive. We had a springboard to push on from, we dismantled it to start again.

Disastrous, mainly by poor buying, and lack of flexibility, i expect us to be in the bottom 3 at Christmas, so then we throw money for different players to fit OG system, or Sack him and use a better system with the players available, i expect the second option will be chosen, it is not hard to pick a formation that is suitable for what we have.

According to PL Injuries page, as well as Hughes being available it would seem that maybe Jeff Lerma could be available to play some part in the villa game.

The summer recruitment was awful. As you say we ripped up a balanced and successful team / squad and for what? Olise we couldn’t do anything about but the rest of it is self inflicted wounds. When we talk about losing Anderson for example it’s not a question of whether Lacroix is better. It’s that we had a settled partnership there with Guehi and destroyed it. Similar with losing Ayew. Key part of the squad and important to bring on in games when we needed to hold the ball up.

Having said that OG has shown zero adaptability and has continued to play the system for the squad he wants not the one he has. His stubbornness has also cost us points. Also the one player he really targeted has been the worst of the lot.

Injuries
Bad buys
Bad sales
Intransigent manager

In that order. Also

Investor problems
Pressure of keeping the club in the PL so the work on the new stand can happen (don’t underestimate this)

It’s so b typical Palace to be in this situation only six months on from that glorious run

Looks like we may well be in the bottom three by 4pm today. Ipswich winning away at Spurs. I know we are all unhappy with our transfer business but is our squad worse than Ipswich? No is the answer but we are not showing any of the fight, energy or frankly, quality, that they are.

Hugely disappointing.

It's been a Perfect Storm of ;

* disrupted pre season
* injuries
* integrating new players
* key players not performing at their best

Then we have what I describe as the self inflicted wounds. You will know them as Kamada, Nketiah and Sarr. Including wages, that's an outgoing in the region of £60m. On the basis of what I've seen from them so far, they haven't been value for money. I would seriously question whether Glasner would have advocated signing Nketiah and Sarr as it's common knowledge that Freedman has wanted those two in the past. Kamada so far has been a disaster. It's not entirely his fault but he looks totally unsuitable for the pace and intensity of the Premier League. His confidence must be shattered and I question if he can turn things around.

I don't want to see Glasner lose his job, but we could find ourselves starting 2025 needing to show title challenging form in order to stay up. And when Parish arrives at the point where he things relegation is a distinct possibility, he'll make a change.

After 57 years supporting the club, I'm resigned to Palace not reaching their potential when on the brink of achieving something.

And sadly, I'm beginning to care less and less.

I know the feeling. We seem to bring it on ourselves. Perhaps it's positive that our aim is to avoid relegation now. The minds should surely be focused.

If Parish doesn’t think relegation is a possibility at this stage he hasn’t been watching us play this season. At the moment relegation doesn’t just look possible it looks highly likely without a change.

All part of the boards master plan, get relegated before they get called out over the new stand, I can't believe so many people fell for it. We will be back in the championship and what was it all for ? Over the last 10 years 90% of the time it's been mediocre to poor football, American owners who have no interest at all. Oh yeah we will reap the rewards of the great academy, that's been heavily funded, don't make me laugh, we've not produced a decent player since zaha, the only reason Mitchell is a prem player is because the club have never bothered to buy another lb. I'll be surprised if Glasner doesn't walk first. After years of showing no ambition it's about time we got relegated, we just make up the numbers now anyway.
