Fine performance and a fantastic result.today.
Wolves ??
Challenging fixture away and hopeful of a win in a close game, 1-0.

Will be interesting to see how many of the players are rotated against Villa. I think Villa will heavily rotate their squad given their good start in the champions league. This will make a potentially winnable game for us if we put out our best team. Wolves are not involved in the cup so will have a full 7 days to prepare for the game against us. I think Wharton will not be involved and don't think we should risk Hughes. Kamara can play as one of the midfielders with perhaps Schlupp. Defence can be the same but we i think we should rest Mitchell and or Munoz. Eddie can come in for JP. I think focus should still be the Wolves game.

Next five league games are...

Wolves (A)
Fulham (H)
Villa (A)
Newcastle (H)
Ipswich (A)

That's a run of fixtures with the potential for some points but I think we need to beat Wolves to do it, or the pressure will be right back on us.

I'll go for a 2-1 win for us. Mateta and Sarr.
Wolves' spirited performance yesterday, our poor run and their absence of a really tough midweek game...

Yeah, I agree, we'll take this 1-2 with them to score first.

We'll be second half wonders.

Yep Assume Wharton will be rested

I'd give a couple of the kids a game. Wolves has to be the priority.

Pretty sure they've scored in every game apart from one this season, will be a tough game, they will be nervy like we were, desperate for a first win. I think that will benefit us but I'd still take a point

I'm wondering if Villa will put out a weakened side. They're fourth in the league and top of the Champions League. This is a once in a lifetime chance for them to have a really special season. They're away to Spurs on Sunday, away to Brugge next Wednesday and away to Liverpool after that.

Feel like it might be a case of too many plates for them and they rest key players.

If we can knock them out it will be another huge boost before we play Wolves. Lots of ifs and buts I know.

I think a positive result on Wednesday could give us momentum going into the weekend and that is so important. How he managed it I don't know, but we saw what a difference it makes when the team is braver and more confident and believes in itself. Show that level of fight and commitment against Wolves and throw in a bit more composure and we can win this. If Wolves lose then they are suddenly 7 points short of safety and staring down the barrel of the gun. How that effects them we won't know until kick-off. They have some quality players so I certainly don't see this as being an easy game. I'm going to be brave like the lads and go for 1-3 to Palace.

This'll be a tough game. The worrying thing is that Wolves have Sscored in ALL of their games since their Opening day defeat at the hands of Arsenal, (and have played liverpool, ManC and Chelsea) and by comparison we are misfiring in front of goal.
We really need to take our Spurs form to Molineux, as we'll need to score at least 1.

Think realistically it'll be 1-1. but either team may kick it 2-1.

As much as OG says he’s targeting a cup which we would all like to see with a strong side at Villa, I think we should rest as many players as we can, especially after the high energy performance against Spurs. I would much rather 3 points at Wolves than a win at Villa. 3 games in 7 days is too much especially for players carrying knocks

Wolves haven’t won a game, so it’s got 1-0 to wolves written all over it, BUT I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s feeling a lot more confident after yesterday’s performance and if we do turn up, I can’t see it being a draw either, so I fancy us to win 1-2

Living in the West Midlands this will be a local match for me. We've had 3 wins and 3 defeats at Molineux since Wolves came back up. Like us, they've played reasonably OK this season without the fine margins going in their favour. Even if we put on a performance like we did against Spurs, I think it will be a tough game. Hoping we can make it 4 away wins in 7 but am expecting a rare draw against them, 1-1.

so after tonight's game and the further injuries acquired, i now see this as our team for Wolves.

Lineup v Wolves;

Henderson

Chalobah Lacroix Guehi

Munoz Kamada Hughes Mitchell

Sarr Nketiah

Mateta

SUBS:

Turner, Matthews, Ward, Clyne, Agbinone, Kporha, Umeh, Schlupp, Devenny,

Injuries: Riad, Richards, Lerma, Doucoure, Wharton, Eze, Franca

We are running very very thin.

OG's post-match comments were that Wharton would play this weekend but they're not sure about Ebs. Kamada looked much more comfortable cutting in from the left, so if Eze is out he might get the chance to build on last night's second-half performance.

I wonder if they are going to just play Wharton as much as possible and send him for his opp in the international break? Feels like its not a traditional injury and its more pain management.

Such an annoying time to get injuries to key players. Really outlines the need for squad depth.

Now that Eze and Wharton have been ruled out of the game I think we will give them a good game but come up short.
2-1 to Wolves but I hope to be proved wrong!

if we lose to Wolves it will put us under some serious pressure for the rest of the season.

I am going to go all out and call for the full 3 points. One Goal.....Mateta. 23 minutes.
