Apologies if this has been mentioned. Feel free to delete if so. Just read on SSN and Fabio Romano also states Palace have opened negotiations with Oliver Glasner on a new long term contract.
I know there is a limited few that dont seem to like him but for me personally I think this is fantastic news.
For me more important than keeping any player. What is the point of having very talented players if 1. theres no one to get a tune out of them and 2. theres no one to mould them into a team.

Would be interested in others thoughts/opinions? I for one think very good (as well as important) news
 
He originally signed a 2.5 year contract so he has another year to run - the article implies he is out of contract this summer, which he definitely is not.

I would have no issues with him signing for longer and we clearly have no plan B, however, i think he may be reluctant to do so. He is clearly ambitious and may not want to limit his options going forward.

If we offer a decent payrise i can see maybe an extension for another 1 or 2 seasons on top of the 1 year he has left.

He is a decent person so will not want to break a contract if a better offer was to come in.

He is in a wonderful position either way and rather than money for him it may come down more to what the club's ambitions are going forward. For example, building a new stand will clearly limit our transfer plans.

If we can tie him to a new deal and support him properly with transfers, special things could happen. Reckon it would also encourage players like Wharton etc to stay a bit longer.

I completely agree. An Arsenal supporting pal said to me yesterday that if Palace were to finish high or win the cup he reckons even Guehi might be persuaded to stay another couple of years. I'm not sure if thats true but what is true is when you have success players get greedy for more. Give them the confidence they can be successful where they are and many will be more than happy to stay.

I've heard that Guehi wants to go to Liverpool and that they are likely to put a bid in for him. Just talk really but sounds feasible enough. I don't think we can blame him for that - I would be disappointed if he went to Utd or Spurs.

I agree with the sentiment. We may never be a top club but our ambition should be that players we want to keep will only leave for a very top European club.

I had not problem with Olise going to Bayern or Mitchell going to Real Madrid. It's when a key player goes to West Ham or Everton I get upset.

Hopefully we are now at a level where Marc or others will say "no thanks Spurs I'd rather stay at Palace."

It has been reported Guehi would prefer a move to L'pool, but there are a few clickbait sites reporting L'pool are looking elsewhere. It is clickbait tho . . .

Virgil van Dijk is 34 this summer. Liverpool would be in the market for a defender. I was thinking last summer Marc is holding out for the right club.
 
I hope he does sign a new contract and stays, he’s been just what we have needed. Took him a bit of time to settle and get the players to play to his methods, but when things clicked we were brilliant.

Where’s his contract let me sign it for him?
 
Would like to have to have had peak Zaha and Bolassie available to Glasner playing either side of Mateta - all that pace, power, skill and mobility.
I'm obviously enjoying our good form now, but I'm still missing that 'get you up off your seat' excitement of Zaha and Bolassie.
Watching Zaha at close quarters finding a way to wriggle past defenders even when boxed in was incredible.
Seeing Bolassie burst on 40 plus yard runs and his power was such that he couldn't be knocked off the ball.
I think Glasner's coaching could have taken both them and the team to another level.

I wouldn't be too keen on that unless the 'transfer fee' was very high. Otherwise every time a so called bigger club (either in England or Europe) sacked a manager we'd have endless speculation that he is leaving because some club has asked to speak with him and we are powerless to stop it.
I'd prefer a cast iron contract with no 'opt outs' or release clauses with a gentleman's agreement the club would not stand in his way if a job he really really wanted came up. As long as we are properly compensated.
I believe Oliver Glasner is a decent person that would not break a contract or walk out leaving the club in the lurch. I know he walked out on Frankfurt but that was said to be because of broken promises over transfer spending. Even Frankfurt have not denied this.
