Fine, bring on Uche and knock it up the middle for him to chase

I'd like to know Glasner's reasoning for persisting with Mateta. Is his game (Glasner's) so one dimensional that he can't formulate a plan without him? Mateta was always a donkey, but Glasner pointed him in the right direction and got him working, but now there's nothing. Thing is, it brings the...

Embarassing. Glasner has a side loaded with players who can't shoot, no wonder we never look like scoring.

    Eze

Imagine loaning a player you've paid £68m for back to the club you bought him from. Ha ha ha!

    Newcastle Predictions

It'll be like the Leeds game, they'll be very physical and energetic and have too much for us. Home win.

    Brennan Johnson

Marco Gabbiadini was a club record signing way back when. Christian Benteke was also a club record signing. Here's to third time lucky with Brennan Johnson!

Was it does show is that Glasner doesn't walk on water and in fact is as mortal as the rest of us - without his core players to choose from he looks distinctly ordinary and strapped for ideas. But we'll see, those players will be back and a couple of additions to the fold should get things back...

Or maybe Mateta is a plodder? Pino is of the Spanish school, crisp movement and passing, hence Arteta and Guardiola being top of the pile.

Glasner is clearly stubborn and fixated in his way of doing things, this is both a weakness and a strength. Yesterday the side were clearly flagging and substitutions looked a sensible option to add extra energy in holding Fulham at bay and offering a counter threat, but no, a very Hodgson...

Yes, we've got to dig in, this is a make or break period for how the rest of the season pans out.

In the end analysis we could easily have been on the end of another home defeat; Andersen's effort was difficult but that of Castagne really should have been the winner, and if the situation were reversed we would be cursing our poor finishing. In reality it was a fine save by Henderson, and...

I think you are correct. Uche is there just to make up squad numbers, and Esse was brought in under a previous DOF who thought that the Palace template must have a player in the Zaha / Bolasie mold. Neither have a future under Glasner.

    Mateta

Clearly Glasner's game plan revolves around Mateta working away up front, but like a poor donkey he's been overworked. Glasner either doesn't trust the subs or doesn't have an alternative plan; probably a bit of both. Obviously why the club are prepared to splash out £35m on a new striker.

He's playing as per instruction. It would seem Oliver Glasner doesn't walk on water after all. He is asking the players to play the system but the few players that make the system tick are missing. A better time to judge will be when they return, and also if Johnson is signed, how he fits into...

Given that state of affairs, we can be grateful for a drab point.

It's reminiscent of Hodgson's approach. Sit deeper and deeper, late substitutes etc. Must have been Roy's Xmas prezzie to OG, "Roy's Hodgson's Big Book Of Defence".

Cut Pino some slack, he's probably instructed by Glasner to feed Mateta, except Mateta isn't on the same wavelength.

    Glasner Out

Glasner has a big ego like any of those quoted, don't be fooled otherwise. He'll fancy himself in that Chelsea role imho.

    Fulham Predictions.

Perhaps news of the imminent arrival (potentially) of a new forward will wake the existing strike force out of its slumber...
