Time to start doing Business Steve..!!

Parish has been ever present during the best period in Palace's history. He is also a Crystal Palace fan. I am sure he is doing all he can to maintain this period. We have no idea why the transfer window, so far, has gone the way it has and I would be surprised if anyone on here knows either.

For me, I think winning the FA Cup was our peak. Let's hope we don't fall off it.

I think Parish has earned the right to decide when he hands over the reigns.

Personally, I'd want to keep him running the club day to day even if he no longer has overall control.
What is missing at the club is money. Parish has proved himself to be 100% Palace. He needs financial support.

If big investment in the stadium requires him to step aside, then so be it, but despite his mistakes, he isn't the problem. He has taken us to a level that we have rarely glimpsed.
Cool respect your opinion, but the problem is he doesn’t have enough money to be chairman/owner as you pointed out correctly, and I think this is the major problem

Parish has been clear that for expenditure over a certain sum all owners have to sign off such expenditure.
He was not explicit what that sum is , but it seems likely that it would encompass major transfer expenditure.
He doesn't have unilateral control in this context.

I called this scenario what 6 weeks ago - because I knew from Parish’s track record of procrastination and it was likely to happen again..!!

This is worse than even I imagined at that time - it’s an absolute abomination of a transfer window..!!

OG is fuming and I don’t blame him..!!

When I started this thread off some were giving me pelters - saying Parish had a plan, nowhere near end of the window, best Chairman ever da de da..!!

Now look at the mess we are in - reduced to having 2 keepers on the bench last night - when I’ve been saying for weeks we need to get our business done early and need depth in the squad...!!

You even had Parish saying last night - he knows we’re light on numbers - all very well admitting it Steve but that’s a situation you and you alone have created and only you can correct it..!!

Now every other team knows we’re desperate - any signings we try to make we’re going to pay a premium for - absolute joke..!!

Parish has destroyed all the momentum and feel good factor created by last season through total inept and clueless strategy..!! So now we have really gone backwards..!!

We’ve got Forest on Sunday who have done the opposite and strengthened significantly..

So the team that stole our rightful place in Europa meaning that this game should be such a grudge match and our chance to put the record straight and we’ve got a threadbare squad..!!

See the only signing we made today was Hermoine Granger for the ladies team - even that was a loan - maybe she can Hex Forest..!!
Honestly, although I admire honesty, I feel that Glasner should keep his mouth shut when it comes to the situation above his pay grade. His job is to run the team.

He has a choice to remain or leave the club. Parish has to do what is good for the club long term.

Of course we need to bolster the squad and bring in some quality. We all want that. We had a taste of glory and want more.
It's a shame that our former star player didn't feel the same way about club that we do.

Splitter.

It seems to me that without his director of football to consult Parish is pretty clueless about players, and in addition there's the matter of talking to the manager about what he needs to make the squad competitive for Premiership and European football. I can't help but think that Parish has been found out, and found lacking.

See this is where you lose me, it’s very clear that parish doesn’t think long term otherwise we wouldn’t be in the situation we find ourselves in now

Winning two trophies has given fans the hope, the expectation for more, accepting the slow but steady progress made since 2010 has made it possible at this stage to push on another rung up the ladder.
The reality: business as usual. Steady as she goes! With Captain Parish at the helm and his able sidekick the Dougster now departed, don't expect any major surprises!

Not really hope, its just so clear and obvious what the club needed to do, and it wasn't unrealistic, a couple of signings early, giving glasner a full preseason with a squad he was happy with, we have money, we dont need to sell to buy. We knew it was highly likely, Guehi, Eze or both would go. That changes nothing, you carry on and have a plan in place if other clubs come in for them.

Its exactly the same as two seasons ago, Eze, Olise, Doucoure just won player of the season and was a 60 million pound player, Guehi, Andersen, a great team, a great spine and the club decide to stick with Hodgson because it was easier to just worry about that later.

We have very wealthy men owning the club alongside Parish. Where is their money when we need a new stadium?

One has to imagine that a self made multi millionaire has some sense when it comes to business.

I'm as frustrated as you, but despite appearances, I'm not daft enough to think that I know it all.

Yep Mate - as great as Parish has been for us and there’s no denying that - he’s now out of his depth both in terms of strategy and financial resources and it’s costing us big time..!!

Parish has to put in his share id imagine, so if the new stand costs 150million/200 million. Now you start to see the problem
The problem is that the American owners, despite their partisan noises, are in it to make money.
They don't seem to want to spend once they have their shares.

The phrase speculate to accumulate springs to mind. Let's see some ambition, or sell to those who have some.

Everything you have said can be said about SP
In fairness, Parish is not in the same league financially as the Americans. They are multi billionaires.

They more than likely are tho, they're just owners, Parish is the chairman, I doubt very much they have anything to do with the day to day running of the club, why would they, Parish has done a good job, their investment is safe, there's absolutely no need to get involved, they would just be giving themselves unnecessary work.
Surely one of them has a Decisive influence? Sorry, is that too soon 🤣

The ownership structure of the club has to be a factor somehow in our predicament.

Textor had loaned then lib money and I assume when he left that money had to be repaid, but who knows.

Our ownership structure is opaque and to the outside observer makes no sense. Why would you own 40% of a club yet have the same say it it's affairs as someone who owns far less?

Makes no sense so there must be something in the structure that makes sense from a tax perspective I guess in the US or elsewhere.

So what does that mean for where we are now? We appear to be on a position where we have to sell before we can buy but Parish seems to lack any real ability in the market.

Ok sell Marc of he does not sign a new contract it selling our best player on Eze with no real idea how to replace him points to possible ineptitude. We will run out of time to buy in the blink of an eye.

And I don't buy all this cut him some slack he saved the club.....once upon a long ago Simon Jordan did that and lots here continued to blow smoke up his backside as he slowly lied (when he bought the ground,) and due to mismanagement brought the club to it's knees.

Not saying situation is the same now, but we need to stay in the Prem to continue as we are let alone progress

Yeah to the detriment of the club and fans - how is that fair..??
Fair? There is no fairness in life.

We can judge our position at the end of the window.

We are all down because we have just lost our star player after winning the Cup. Eze is an Arsenal fan. It was his dream.
We may not have kept him no matter what our status.

What is needed are the type of facilities that attract and keep players. A fantastic stadium with great training facilities and top wages. Right now, Parish cannot provide that.

His dithering in the transfer window might be unavoidable. None of us really know.
