Bilal El Khannouss

Doesn't seem worth anywhere near 32 mil. Nor will I imagine he ever will be. We could bid that on Gallagher with a couple of add ons and get someone who is good enough immediately.

Why not? Whilst he's certainly not at Eze's level yet, I think there is loads of room for development and he's clearly a very talented player.

He averaged a goal contribution every 242 minutes in his last season in Belgium aged 19.

A goal contribution every 428 minutes in his first season in the Premier League, aged 20 and playing for a shocking side.

That's a very decent output for his age.

While I agree Gallagher would be more impactful now, his salary would probably be double El Khannouss - he's on £150k a week at Atletico, I think El Khannouss is on £50k a week at Leicester.

This story does not stack up.

If El Khannouss was a prime target we’d surely have snapped him up when the release clause price was available at considerably less than the current quoted price.

Furthermore, it’s said that our real target was Guessand and that we backed away when the fee hit £30million , before Villa were really on the scene.
I just can’t believe that it’s all as desperate as it sounds.

Make it make sense!
I think we are panicking trying to find a replacement because SP has left it far too late I like BEK but not for that price

£32m would include add ons and hitting certain targets

Thank god I'm not paid to announce the team over the tannoy....can't we sign someone called Smith or Brown.

Sounds more like a stretch of sand that Montgomery fought on in Africa.

Most likely when Arses decided they didn’t want Eze and Eze appeared happy to stay we decided not to go for either of them. No one expected Spurs to come in for him especially given Levy is as tight as a ducks arse. We did expect Guehi to go to Liverpool but that has changed too so we have to seriously look at the Eze deal if he’s decided to leave and Ollie wants a bigger squad.
I accept it’s all a bit reactive but it’s where we are.

Release clauses often come with a demand for all the money up front. Paying more might mean paying in instalments over the term of the contract.

I think if he were available for 22-25 million he would be considered cheap by other Premiership clubs and snapped up.

Known Premiership players aren't going to be available at bargains while in contract.

So while I acknowledge that it's expensive at 32 million, it's probably required to get him without the competition.

Looking at how well he did I think he's a good purchase depending upon the length of the contract and the resell potential.

Alex Crook just said on the radio, we won’t rubber stamp the £55/60 million Eze deal until El Khannous is over the line, apparently
Yes I have been told similar. That 1. Palace want to explore whether a deal can realistically be done for Dibling. And 2. Nothing whatsoever is going to happen unless Spurs meet Palace's valuation of Eze (which I'm guessing they still have not)

I'm sorry i don't accept this. Yes we have clearly got longer payment terms and some of the money is in add ons, so not guaranteed, but to pay c50% more than the widely reported £22.5m release clause, only a few weeks after it expired seems very odd.

It has desperation written all over it.

We knew there would be loads of interest in Eze this summer so surely we must have had a short list of options, even if we didn't want to buy until the Eze deal was concluded.

This week we have bid for a FC Brugge player a day or so before they have a Champions League qualifier and are considering a bid for Tyler Dibling a week after Everton had a £40m offer rejected. Our recruitment this summer has been woeful

Just been looking what LCFC fans think - and it’s that there is no way he is worth £25m let alone £30m.
2 goals and 3 assists?
We can add him to the list of players we have overpaid for.
A panicked purchase is what it is called. Someone you would never think of buying under normal circumstances.
That might well be right, they paid £20 mill so I read last summer. He is now a championship player £25 mill would seem the sort of figure .
Having said that Notting Forest , Newcastle, Villa, have been paying over the top in my opinion , and now if you can run your worth £40 mill.

There have been too many distractions to concentrate the minds on recruitment. However, the new Director of Football has just been appointed so we may see some positive movement at last. Matt Hobbs is the former DoF at Wolves and is known as a good talent scouter. He has already made some suggestions to Ollie and the Board prior to his appointment two days ago. Unfortunately, he looks a bit like Marinakis so should shave his beard and wear a Palace tie for the Forest match or else get mistaken for the BFG.

Too true. And said FC Brugge player is now exrtremely likely to be in the Champions League as he starred in their defeat of Rangers. That one has flown the nest
A reminder that our two bitterest rivals, currently, Forest and Brighton are not afraid to do business.. The latter made their four purchases in the first five days of July and the same number of outgoings by the 10th. I imagine Glasner wonders what he has done to deserve this treatment
