Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

UK/Greek laws are irrelevant here what matters are the rules in the UEFA rulebook. If you have two clubs in the competition you only have to place one into a blind trust. At that point you are only considered to have decisive control over the other club and having control over one club is fine. Marinakis placed Forrest into a blind trust and did nothing with Olympiacos, this would have been sufficient for UEFA. Similarly if Textor had placed his shares in Lyon into a blind trust both us and Lyon would have been cleared to play in the Europa League.
The laws are relevant as to what you can and can’t do with shares as it’s still a business that is subject to that country’s laws but I take your point.

Have you got the info relating to that because that is not how I read it.
There is nothing in the rules saying which of the two clubs an owner has to place in a blind trust. It just says you cannot have influence at two clubs at the same time. Placing either club into a trust would resolve this issue as in UEFAs eyes you no longer have influence at that club leaving you only influential at one club.

You can see this from both what Marinakis did in only placing Forrest into a trust, or what other owners like United or City did in previous years where they placed their other clubs but not the English ones into trusts.

Because he had decisive control at Palace. This is how UEFA view it, as ludicrous as it sounds.

Supposedly he would be able to go into the Palace changing room and influence a game to benefit another of his clubs.

He could only get out of this by recusing himself from both clubs.

Interestingly, if Textor had put his Palace shares into trust and not his Lyon shares then Lyon would have been relegated to the Conference.

My personal feeling is that Textor knew this all along but took a calculated risk that Palace wouldn’t win the Cup hence why he had an, “oh s***” moment when Palace did win.
But his ‘oh s***’ moment came while Lyon were relegated to division 2 AND, even if that were to be overturned by the French FA, as it was, at that stage Lyon were not in a sufficiently high position in Ligue 1 to qualify for the Europe League. The ‘oh s***’ moment should have come a week or so later when Lyon moved up into the EL qualifying positions in Ligue 1. As has been mentioned before, how could Textor KNOW that was going to happen? One might come to the conclusion that results in Ligue 1 had been fixed in advance. Or am I missing something?

Find it very strange how many neutrals have turned against us for standing up for ourselves and not going quietly. Apparently they've all decided we're run terribly and love the "rules are rules" mantra, plus we definitely could have sorted it (though when you ask how they aren't exactly overflowing with solutions).

If it was their clubs and they knew how laughable the idea that Textor had "decisive influence" over us is they'd be absolutely seething but no, they know better than us apparently. Personally they can stick their patronising "wish them the best in the CL" up their aris's

Welcome, fella.
So why did UEFA not allow Palace access to the communications between the relevant parties, which I assume would include your owners request to UEFA about Palace’s inclusion in the Europa League?
Why are Palace held to a 1st March date when Lyon had until 9th July?
Why did Forest not manage to hang onto their Champions League position - was it because your owner had moved aside so couldn’t influence the club?
I have nothing against Forest fans; just your owner and UEFA for what to us seems to be a bizarre case of double standards.
I do, they're a set of absolute wankers

read the f***ing emails

read the f***ing emails
If was just a matter of the club submitting an email address for communication and then not viewing incoming emails then Parish is indeed a clown (him being chairman and all) for pursuing action against UEFA. Is it really down to such a simple administrative error?

God no! I hope we can put it behind us now and win the competition.
What's done is done and we're starting to get a "victim" reputation with other teams right now
Only with Forest so far as I can tell, who are unbelievably naive about their club.

We are victims. Whether of poor rules, maladministration or corruption remains unknown, at least for now.

For sure further discussion and action needs to be framed as in the interests of fairness in football and not seen as us just moaning. Which it really is. Us today but it could be many others tomorrow.

I don’t suppose it’s receiving too much attention from Parish right now. Getting ourselves ready to face the new challenge of an European season before the end of the window, with all the prevarication that’s involved, must demand full concentration. After that, and with the media on our side (minus the increasingly bizarre Simon Jordan) and ready to write thoughtful analyses on the fall out from this, I expect it to be kept alive. We have been cheated and cheats ought never to be allowed to prosper.

No it is not down to an email. Parish and board never thought we were an MCO and acted accordingly. Unfortunately UEFA disagree

Unfortunately ignorance of a law is no defence so proving that the law wasn’t communicated correctly does become important.

Rules not being laws does though introduce another line of attack.
IMO it wasn’t ignorance it was interpretation.

The rules themselves are not fit for purpose which the club statement intimated and need changing

Reasons to be cheerful one, two, three

I need someone to give me some reasons to be cheerful please.

We have just won the FA Cup and the Community Shield beating Man City and Liverpool and I still have a feeling of being not happy !

Only talk of best players leaving and no incomings.

I have tickets for next Thursday but still feel we shouldn't even be playing and even if we do go on and win it then the thought of Alexander Ceferin handing us the trophy seems bizarre.

What a t***! Mate we all know you are running scared of UEFA in case it affects future income. Where was the vocal support prior to the hearing? I suspect they are concerned what the Fat Greek may do next, serves them right.
Perhaps lining up to fine us for any banners at the Forest game?

Let's argue amongst each other for another 100 pages.
My grandmother had an island. Nothing to boast of. You could walk around it in an hour, but still it was, it was a paradise for us. One summer, we went for a visit and discovered the place had been infested with rats. They'd come on a fishing boat and gorged themselves on coconut. So how do you get rats off an island? Hmm? My grandmother showed me. We buried an oil drum and hinged the lid. Then we wired coconut to the lid as bait and the rats would come for the coconut and... they would fall into the drum. And after a month, you have trapped all the rats, but what do you do then? Throw the drum into the ocean? Burn it? No. You just leave it and they begin to get hungry. And one by one they start eating each other until there are only two left. The two survivors. And then what? Do you kill them? No. You take them and release them into the trees, but now they don't eat coconut anymore. Now, they only eat rat. You have changed their nature. The two survivors.

This is what Uefa have made us.

We have won silverware, twice, against the two best teams in the country and it wasn't a fluke. We are a very good side and we have a genius manager who everybody loves. We can also thank our Chairman for arriving there having been near extinction not that long ago.

We've not made any real signings early which is unpreferable however we'll quite likely make a few before the end of the window to bolster an already very good team. No guarantee of anyone leaving, that may well not happen.

So great team potentially looking better, heaven sent manager, amazing fanbase, a Chairman who's at the very least earned some belief and a European season for which we'll be galvanised having been screwed by UEFA.

There's always nerves supporting your club because of the emotion involved and that can translate into panic when our own conceptions of 'best-case' scenarios don't materialise, or far from it as things stand. We'll never know until we know however. Didn't have us down to win the FA Cup last season nor did L'pool fans probably even entertain the thought of them losing to little ol' Palace having won the title and spent 100's of millions of quid this summer.
