Uefa Conference League

Totally agree - i've waited 50 years for this and whilst disappointed we are not in the Europa we are still in Europe.

An away game or two will be a great experience (let's do England proud and show that some football supports can respect other countries etc) and home games under the lights should be fantastic atmospheres. Let's get Selhurst rocking!
Definitely and if we had been a few points and positions higher in the league last season we would have hoped to finish in 7th place and be rewarded with a place in the Conf league.

I have no intention of dignifying the decision of UEFA by attending any Conference League matches.
I don't believe I would be disappointed if our supporters boycotted the games and cameras pictured a totally deserted Selhurst Park.
We cannot overturn the abhorrent decision but we can demonstrate our utter disgust at developments.
😡 😡 😡
That was exactly my thoughts when UEFA gave their decision, however i am more settled now and best to be pragmatic.

Possible win of the cup brings £30 mil with matchday revenue. European experience for the team. OG motivated to have another European trophy.

I also hope that this will boost team’s bonding by thinking they did not deserve this decision as a team and make EL happen next season by winning Conference.

Italy: Bologna, Roma
Spain: Real Betis, Celta
Germany: Stuttgart, Freiburg
France: Lille, Lyon
Netherlands: Go Ahead Eagles
Portugal: Porto
Croatia: GNK Dinamo

quite a few decent teams here, and i've heard of most of them! Let's give the competition some respect

I'm almost at peace with it if we are in the Conference. We will have a great chance of winning.

It's not fair, it's not right, but at this point I'm just going to enjoy it if we are in it.
I can't be anything else but at peace with it. Can't change it. I'm not gonna get stressed about something I can't change. Let's just get behind the European campaign that we still have. Totally agree with you fella.

Three+ trophies in the space of about a year is now looking quite possible. Only a few months ago we had an empty cabinet (nobody say ZDS here please 😂)

Calm down, Willo, there's no need to get so worked up! Cheer up!

It's no secret that UEFA is a corrupt bunch. Fans across Europe have been saying this for decades, even those of the big teams that are usually favoured. The Conference League isn't as bad as its reputation. Just because the paticipating teams are not so well-known doesn't mean their players are all pricks. Actually there are some pretty good teams from Western and Northern Europe. Don't be fooled.
Maybe we'll be glad in November and December that we don't have such strong opponents. Namely, when our list of not available players looks stronger than the list of available players and we have also to take care of our results in the PL.

And finally, I secretly have a bet running on who will be the first one on the relevant thread to predict a narrow defeat for us if we happen to meet FK Zauna Algiris at Selhurst Park. 🙂😉

Can't wait for FK Sauna Girls. Sounds alright.

Can’t see how anyone could think that little lot will be a doddle. Micky mouse?
I for one never thought Palace fans would ever even consider disrespecting the likes of those on that list.

Am i right in saying that we will be playing a play-off game next Thursday at Selhurst??? (21st Aug)

Then away leg 28th August in TBC

I do think this is something that could help us blood some fringe and young players. Esse, JRS, Kporha, Even Devenney will have more opportunity to progress. But we do need a bigger squad to deal with all these games if we want to keep competitive in every competition.

I would probably put out a strong starting XI to make sure we got to the league stage then weakened the team thereafter.

The club has already been 'Hurt' by the decision.
What will hurt the club even further is having to play in midweek in some far-flung lands in a 'Third Tier' lesser competition against teams not many had even heard of and having to compete in a Play-Off for the privilege.
I repeat - there is no linkage between ourselves and Lyon !!
😡 😡 😡
Do you not think, that having to play in some far-flung lands in a 'Second Tier' lesser competition against teams not many had heard of, wouldn't hurt the club as well? Cheer up my friend, we are the FA Cup & Community Shield holders of 2025, AND, we are in Europe, which is all we've ever wanted/dreamed about. Lets get the play-off done 1st & then you can be as gloomy as you want, after all, you have approx 40 weeks to be a 'doom & gloom' merchant, but, for now . . .

If we play Go Ahead Eagles would we have to change our chants/songs or will it just be one big Eagles lovefest??

It's an amazingly important round for teams their size. Winner is guaranteed a minimum eight games in the Europa League. Loser plays a seeded team in the Conference League (like us or Forest, Fiorentina etc. ) and likely goes home

So it's possible for Notts Forest to get knocked out then play us??

Whilst it's extremely disappointing to be let down by the corrupt and inept UEFA, and I do understand the vitriol being expressed by some on here, I firmly believe we (our club) should accept the ruling with dignity and embrace the challenge of the Conference league.

Having perused many of the press releases on the subject it's quite clear that most folk understand the unfairness of the outcome and the massive disappointment caused to the club and supporters. In other words, nearly all the football world can see that our right as FA Cup winners has been snatched away because of a trivial technicality.

As has been stated elsewhere, the intensity of competing in the Europa, with our current squad, would be crippling. We stand a reasonable chance of doing better in both Conference and PL so this gives us a great opportunity for European football with less risk of the ignominy of an early exit.

Let's face it lads, a few months ago we were still dreaming of the Cup and now we are winners due to play European football. I relish the prospect and can't wait to see it.

Whilst it is tempting to stick two digits up at EUFA, I think that may be cutting off our nose to spite our face.

You never know when we might lock horns with EUFA again in the future when such actions could come back to bite us. And I don't think it would serve the club well for supporters to boycott the games.

I'm hugely disappointed, although not surprised, at the outcome, but we have to move on and make the best of it. We are still in Europe and hopefully will make a good fist of it.

There's a chance, of course, that UEFA will suspect some underhand multi-club linkage and start a due diligence programme to see if they can prevent us playing.

Not that I'm being cynical you understand.
