Eze to spurs?

The media are still screaming from the rooftops that he is about to join Arsenal and that he wants to join Arsenal and that he's agreed personal terms and nasty old Palace are holding him back and stifling his career by demanding his entire release clause, blah, blah, blah.
IF Arsenal have agreed personal terms (very doubtful because Eze is honorable and has openly said he would never disrespect Palace) and its a big IF thats an illegal approach as Palace have said anyone seeking permission to speak either directly or indirectly to Eze has to activate his release clause. We know Arsenal have not done that. In fact the idiots in the media are still banging on that Arsenal will get him for less than that despite Palace publically stating twice that Eze will not be leaving for a penny less than his release clause and even then the club will demand most of that up front.
I now feel Sportings pain the way Arsenal tried to nickel and dime them over Gorkyres (sorry bad spelling) for months before a deal was struck.
They are clearly and unashamedly trying to unsettle Eze. Hoping he'll approach Palace saying he wants to join them. I just dont see Eze doing that. He's better than that and like Marc Guehi I dont believe he is in any hurry to leave Palace because he knows we have a special team here and a quality manager and he is not unhappy at Palace.
I dont believe Arsenal are serious enough to pay what Palace demand but if they are they'd better hurry up. His release clause expires in 2 days. Then Palace can demand £100m if they want to.

Unfortunately Yep too many snakes promoting their own self interests. Agree Eze is honourable and respects the club

From The Athletic

"Arsenal remain interested in England winger Eberechi Eze, 27, but are not willing to meet a release clause in excess of £60m and will only bid if Crystal Palace reduce their asking price."

Would they be doing that if we were a 'big team'?

Will be interesting to see how Eze and the Board react.

how can we reduce our asking price if they never submit a bid? Ridiculous click bait.

Agree. Not up to palace to help Arsenal out

Palace wont respond to that. They've already said its full amount or Eze stays put. I imagine if there were no release clause there would be a 'NOT FOR SALE' sign above his head.

Not so ridiculous whilst ever there's a release clause. After all as other posters have said a release clause makes it clear to everyone what needs to be done to get a player - namely trigger the release clause by bidding the full amount. The article seems to be suggesting that Arsenal won't trigger the current release clause. There's no point them bidding lower whilst the current figure is there.

The Athletic don't tend to run click bait stories without some serious checking with people close to the club(s) or player/agent.

Suspect its either complete fabrication, or journos inventing stories around some Aresnals perceived funds.

IF they wanted Eze, they would have gone in for him before Madueke.

Not wait till the end of the window, and cry poverty.

Oh, poor old Arsenal. Pathetic, and the tribe of clickbait journo,s that do their pathetic stirring for them. We would probably like Messi, but don’t like his terms.

Agree with this completely. Arsenal think they can apply pressure, turn Eze's head and get him on the cheap. I honestly believe they are not serious enough about him to pay full price.
With his release clause expiring tomorrow I'd now be very surprised if he left in this window.

Does the release clause expire tomorrow? It's being reported as running until 16 August so they could leave it until the day before the season starts.

I'm not 100% certain but it definitely did last year. It was definitely 31st July. So I could be wrong but I think its reasonable to assume its the same this year.
It is being reported it expires before the season starts but they dont know the date. I therefore still think its tomorrow.

Would make sense.

2 weeks out from the season starting he's either not for sale, or its silly money.
