Summer Transfers 2025 (rumours and incomings)

The Athletic are reporting that Rangers have made a bid for Rak-Sakyi - a loan with a £10m obligation to buy.

Apparently we have rejected it but negotiations ongoing.

£10m seems a good price to me!

The actual quote is
"The approach from the Scottish Premiership club was for an initial loan with a potential obligation to buy worth up to £10million."
Makes quite a difference

I am getting increasingly concerned, not only at the lack of actual activity but even the lack of media rumours and links. Perhaps it's a good thing and we're getting better at keeping things secret but I doubt it.

Can only assume the delay is down to both the UEFA stuff and waiting for Johnson to come in and, hopefully, inject some cash. However, we know that players take a while to get used to Glasner's system. The later it gets, the more it affects our start.

Perhaps we believe that we'll keep the first XI together and therefore and new signings will have time to bed in. But, if would be really nice if we could get going and show some ambition.

We are currently ahead of only Fulham in the expenditure table so far this window:

I wouldn't worry.

Most of the teams in and around us have lost important players. We so far haven't.

Still could do with a bit of cover in certain positions, but we're not in a bad place with the squad (especially given what we are used to!)

As a short term view, no news in great news.

As a 1 year out view, it leaves us in a world where next summer Guehi and Glasner are out of contract, Eze and Mateta have 1 year left, and Wharton, Munoz and Lacroix have had an extra year of exposure.

AW, DM and ML are on decent contracts so not too much of a worry, albeit harder to keep players who see others leave. No work this summer makes next summer look spicy.

I wonder if Eze and Guehi will be on the pre season trip to Austria.

It would not be ideal if they are on trip, play a full part on it and then come back and are transferred almost on the eve of the season.

It would have echoes of last season with replacements having to be brought in late and having to acclimatise to a new manager, teammates and tactics.

I’m not seeking to apportion blame if this occurs because it has to be accepted that brinkmanship applies to transfer dealing so optimum timing can’t always be achieved.

There have been rumours that the Eze deal to Arsenal to is already as good as done.
That can surely be put to bed if he’s on the Austria trip.

Win the CAS appeal, win Europa and we're in the Champions League with all these guys staying on. Simple.
