Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

For me there’s part of this that I think will be the end of my being actively interested in football.

I’ve been a Palace fan for 37 years, my dad was for 65.

In winning the Cup it was the “Trotter Brothers becoming millionaires. You don’t need the bit that follows, the thrill is the journey.

Like going back to your first love. It’s never the same, this is a love affair that lasted nearly 40 years, but this feels like the time to say goodbye and have the final memory of the cup win

The system is broken. UEFA will create its super league, shaft everyone but those 20 clubs.
You are absolutely correct.

If I were a Forest fan, I'm not sure how I would feel getting promoted to the Europa league at Palace's expense. Not really a cause of celebration in my book. The only one overjoyed by this will be their owner who can now see the dollar signs.

And finally the decision that everyone expected has been revealed.

EUFA is a corrupt as f*ck, the rules are all set up for the big boys to benefit from and bollocks to the rest of the football pyramid. Our set up of ownership with decisive control not being the same as percentage of ownership is far too removed from anything that they envisaged coming across their doormat, as they simply don't expect teams the size of Palace to win anything anymore.

Rules aren't fit for purpose and loop holes everywhere for anyone with enough money and expectation on qualifying for Europe to exploit. The blind trust thing is absolute dogsh!te and why would Textor put his shares into that when he was actively trying to sell them, we weren't exactly setting the league on fire and nowhere near thinking we'd be in the final, let alone win the cup!

I think the CAS will chicken out, no doubt after a nice slap up meal on EUFA's expense.

But, we're still in Europe, we won the FA CUP, Brighton have f*** all and given how all of Forest's star players seem to be on the way out, I'm hopeful they fall flat on their faces and be out of Europe as soon as possible. Should be an interesting first home game for us if that fat wanker Marinakis makes an appearance....

There are no positives.

Playing Thursday Sunday, no prize money, no attraction to prospective signings, a good reason for players to leave and uninteresting opposition.
The Conference is a pointless competition other than to make more money for UEFA. It is the European equivalent of the ZDS Cup.

The Europa has a direct route to the Champions League.
Likewise, the Conference has a direct route to the Europa. Two of the four winners, Chelsea and West Ham

I don't know. To some extent I was only ever interested in the FA Cup so I was happy anyway, but given this felt like a once in a lifetime opportunity to play in Europe then I am just happy we aren't out completely.

And we'll appeal so either we'll get our place back or have this as a fall back. It's a folly, granted, and a tournament that shouldn't exist, but hey ho, they didn't chuck us out out.

There's a lot of justfiable anger about this decision, but looking at it objectively we weren't as prepared as other clubs.
Of course there are valid reasons why we weren't prepared, but at the same time it needs to be acknowledged that we didn't take the necessary steps and have learnt a harsh lesson.

If you read the HYS section on their 'breaking' news, they are loving it as well as Br1-3ton fans, as you'd expect. Now, what i'd like to know, before this announcement Palace were directly into the league phase of the EL & Forest were into the 3rd round qualifying for the ConL. As our positions have been reversed (for now), do we still go into the league phase for the ConL & where do Forest go into the EL?

Time will tell, i guess.

The two responses from Forest fans I've read on the BBC think the decision is wrong and unfair.

Brighton fans have already w**ked themselves dry over Lewis Dunk's rapey looking face being insufficient evidence to secure a conviction. I don't really know what they are celebrating after spending a small fortune to win nothing and not qualify for Europe.

Purely on a practical point. If it stays like this I think we might have the following games:

21st Aug UEFA Conference qualifying
24th Aug Premier League vs Forest (H)
28th Aug UEFA Conference qualifying

Whatever happens I think history will be kind to us, one more stone hitting the dam... one day it might break.

The whole thing is a bloody joke. Lyon appeal their relegation and are reinstated almost immediately (although how this was achieved has been conveniently brushed under the carpet). We then get kicked out of the competition that John Tosser's Lyon are now taking part in. It stinks to high heaven. I just don't have faith in CAS (is that what they're called!?) in changing the decision as they are undoubtedly in bed with UEFA anyways. Self-serving and corrupt C**ts the lot of them.

They haven't worked it out that we'll win it at a canter and then have two trophies to their zero, arguably three. Divs.

So if fat boy at Forest had no say in how the club was run, what the hell was he doing on the pitch chasing the manager hurling abuse at him. A normal fan would have done time for that.
