Palace potentially denied entry to Europa League?

Have I read correctly that Lyon's appeal decision will be given on Friday? It's all speculation but it must be more likely than unlikely that their appeal will be rejected - and if UEFA are so strict on the March 1 deadline we'd already be out. They must have given us the extra time to restructure, and we have. If Lyon's appeal is turned down then UEFA don't have a decision to make, if Lyon win then they do have a decision to make ... it's only at that point where the speculation starts, but it's more likely than unlikely that UEFA favour Lyon should they win their appeal.
Yes, my understanding is that the DCNG - the football financial regulator - is due to hear the appeal against relegation by OL this Friday.

You are right re the FA but I have read a few reports that the Premier League as well as most of its members support Palace's right to play in the EL and have sympathy with our situation.

Cant really see what the PL or FA can do except offer public support which they may still do once a decision is made.
The FA is a Member of Uefa as are all the European footballing countries. They should fight our case from the inside. They owe us as it it was at their request that Palace were thrown out of European football in 1991 to let the scousers back in.

You seem to be jumping a few months and predicting the future here.
It’s a league of 32, in which we play eight games, IF we finish in the top eight THEN we progress. The next 16 in the final table then go into the play offs, the bottom eight go out
The information was taken from Wikipedia Europa League 2025-26.

BTW the draw for the league phase is the 29th August.

I think possibly you’re just confusing the play offs, group stage and the round of 16

No-one is in the round of 16 yet! We don’t have to qualify, we go straight into the group stage which has 32 teams!!
And therein lies the problem. When you're so money hungry you allow 6th place in a league into Europe so that 32 teams can compete, then you're increasing the chances of a multi club ownership headache.

UEFA are obviously not convinced of our version of ownership, even though Textor has sold his shares, yet to be given the green light by the Premier League. If Lyon are cleared by the French inquiry into their finances, they will be in the Europa cup and we will be chucked out.
If they were happy with their own investigation into the ownership model, they would of confirmed our place, as they haven't it looks like we will be out.

Tend to agree. If our set up was deemed OK for whatever reason this pantomime wouldn’t be happening as there would be no offence. Unless , as we don’t need telling ,UEFA rules are such a mess it takes weeks on end for them to unravel them.

the possible way out, acc to a Talksport Euro football expert whose name I cannot recall, is if our FA can fast track the approval of Textor's sale to Johnson, normally that takes 2 or 3 months, Johnson's record is quite transparent so they could speed up the process, a lot of the problems it seems don't involve the issues themselves but getting them sorted in time.

Stefan Borson? Former financial advisor to Man City. They have him on a lot and he knows his stuff, he even gives Lord Jordan a run for his money with his knowledge.

I do not agree. I think UEFA are looking for a way out that avoids any challenge in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). If Lyon are relegated UEFA will give us the place in the Europa League. If Lyon are not relegated then UEFA have to make a decision. If they kick us out we’ll challenge the decision in CAS. If they confirm our position in the Europa League then possibly Forest or Brighton will challenge the decision in CAS. UEFA wants to avoid their ridiculous rules being challenged in CAS. So they are hoping the French FA gets them off the hook.

Reading the article from the CFCB First chamber they state "the CFCB first chamber has decided to postpone its assessment of the multi-club ownership case involving Olympique Lyonnais and Crystal Palace". That suggests they have not decided what their ruling will be! Could it be and those with legal knowledge are better placed to comment than I, are the CFCB concerned that any decision they announce could be construed as prejudicial for Lyon`s case before the French federation?
Lyon were fortunate to qualify for the Europa League, Strasbourg only needed to draw at home to Le Havre needed to win to avoid the relegation play off. Strasbourg were in front twice but NINE minutes into injury time they conceded their second penalty of the game to lose and drop into the conference league. Will Strasbourg take legal action if they are denied a Europa league place by Lyon being reinstated? If Strasbourg are 'promoted' presumably Lens who currently have missed out on European competition will take their place in the Conference league. How do Lens view that scenario?
I do not understand the suggestion by some to refuse a place in Europe. On TalkSport they quoted an 84 yeard old Palace fan who just wanted to travel to a European away game for Palace. We may not qualify again for many years, next season may be our best opportunity. If we are in the Europa league there are several very attractive potential opponents for instance Roma and Porto. If we end up in the Conference league, Chelsea won it last season and West Ham a few years ago, it would be an opportunity to go a long way and if we were to win it automatic Europa league qualification.

I made a point about not accepting Conference league. Just to clarify, I am desperate to see Palace in Europe. It is a lifelong dream.

However, we qualified for the Europa league. That is what we deserve. Anything less than that then someone else is likely to miss out (or be promoted) and that is against the whole principle of football. Winning the FA Cup gives you a place in Europa league, that is what we are entitled to.

If we accept a demotion then we accept we are (were) a multi-club owned team and that is clearly insanity. No one with a brain cell could possible think otherwise.

Therefore it is the principle of the matter that I object to….. although would attend conference league anyway I imagine as I just want to watch palace whenever they play.

The whole thing is a joke and just goes to show how corrupt UEFA is..!!

If this were City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, PSG etc.. This would already be sorted..!!

Press are whipping it up as are other protagonists e.g. Forest..!!

We simply now have no case to answer - Textor has sold his shares to Johnson - so we are not a multi owned club..!!

Not that we ever were anyway - everyone knows Parish runs the club - like it or not..!!

UEFA must know that if this went to CAS our expulsion would not stand up to scrutiny and would fail under Legal challenge..!!

My view is that this is all about Lyon and Textor and not us..!!

If I were EUFA, I would be doing exactly what they are doing.

Kick us out now:
- the Lyon appeal fails, they must reverse their decision; but
- the appeal succeeds, we take EUFA to appeal.

Allow us in:
- the Lyon appeal fails, all good; but
- the Lyon appeal succeeds, Lyon, Brighton and Forest take EUFA to appeal.

What would you do? Obvs, wait the week, see what the French appeal tribunal do and cross fingers and toes they reject Lyon's petition.

Of course, Lyon will win their appeal. It wouldn't be Palace if they didn't.
