Summer Transfers 2025 (rumours and incomings)

It is rumoured that Spurs want him back and he'd like to return there.
It’s a deal that I thought might have been done early given Southampton’s rapid demise, but if the rumour you mention is true, then it would appear unlikely he’ll come to us. Shame, I think he’s decent.

If I'm honest I dont think he'll come here. We've got such a nailed on starting right back.

I'm sure there will be another team in the bottom half of the prem that he'd start for

Liverpool have been quick out of the blocks with their summer signings but have yet to make a move for Guehi. This is starting to look like Zaha to Arsenal e.g. the player is more keen than the club.

I hope Palace are pointing this out to Guehi. Does he really want to go to a club that is lukewarm about him?

Good point.

Also with 2 new fullbacks, would they want to have to integrate a new CB as well?

Must admit, think Marc would be a better fit at City.

Walker-Peters is terrible at defending and ok going forward. Probably not as good as PVA. I think last season was maybe his best since he was very young. But it still wasn't that good and they were relegated easily. I think the main positive is that he's on a free.

I believe they have signed around 40 players in the last 5 seasons.

Includes loans returning from other clubs
24/5. 12 players for €236m. Plus 10 loans.
23/4. 8 players for €106m. Plus 15 loans
22/3. 7 players for €55m. Plus 12 loans
21/2. 8 players for €75m. Plus 16 loans
20/1. 8 players for €50m. Plus 19 loans.

Yup, and that's a LOT of players.

Its really not.

Its a case of signing very talented kids knowing that some will not 'take off'. Mazimising the income and going again.

Looking across the league at the 5 year net spend figures. Even with their £200m spend last summer only Everton, Leicester, Southampton and Wolves have a better net spend.

So people can bang on about the spend last summer, but they earnt the right to do it.

Pretty good proof that the model is working

Their net spend is only ok because of those Chelsea mugs.

Signing lots of players in the hope they take off IS throwing s*** at a wall. I didn't say random street kids.

Amazing how many of our own fans will fawn at them when the only players that seem to make it into their side cost a fortune and they shift about a ton of players, and produce frig all themselves.

have to agree.

They seem to buy young players a year or two before they 'need' them and loan them to lesser European league to adapt to European football. Clearly it won't work for every player, but even a 1 in 3 or 4 success rate has proved to be very profitable.

It also means when they sell a player for silly money they don't have to rush into the market to buy a replacement.

They do appear to be paying big bucks now (Rutter for £40m after a pretty average time at Leeds!!), however, as they got so much for players like Caicedo, Cucurella, Ben White to Arsenal and Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool etc they can afford to do so.

I know he's had injuries but maybe sending Franca out on loan might have been a better option for us and him.

Literally what I just said about them

Everton were reported to have been willing to pay -£75M for Wilf and his contract situation left us with nothing.

Spurs were reported to have offered £75M for Marc also.

Whilst I concede both players have brought additional value to our club by staying I would be extremely upset to repeat the mistakes I think we made with Wilf.

We do not need Marc’s contract situation to destabilize the squad with rumors and gossip. We need to give him until the end of the month to sign an extension or he goes to the highest bidder and we move forward with a replacement.

Not a mistake. He's class and we'll need him with the schedule to come and quality of opposition
